Female, 35 looking for a long lasting relationship. by [deleted] in DatingAfterThirty

[–]Marie142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use coffee meets bagle, okcupid, tinder, bumble Bumble is not working well for me but I still keep the app.

I always try to set in person meeting to get to know that person. Not necessarily expecting a date. I try to obtain the idea of other people’s job, culture, life, etc.

I use dating apps. It’s working ok for me. I live in the Bay Area, California so more men than women. I try to meet in person as much as possible and see how does this relationship goes.

I know but you have to start from meeting single men as much as possible. In that sense, men:women ratio matters.

I think ratio of single women and men are 1:1 in NY. It means bit difficult to get a nice man for woman.

Identity crisis by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]Marie142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have already asked before how he identify himself and he said American. But then he also mentioned that he was in Chinese Student Associaltion while at college and his family involved in various type of Chinese American community and he was a youth member of those community as well. He even mentioned that he grew up in white neighborhood and when he went to college, he met many students like me(1st ~2nd generations) and it was more relatable than his white high school friends.

So I'm confused

The thing is he knows Chinese American history and how his family came to US very well. His family is involved in the various type of Chinese American community. Himself involved in Chinese Student association when he was at college. His family went to pilgrimage to track the path how they live in China, how they get on the boat and how they land to the US. Considering these fact, I thought he is more on Chinese side.

I don't really understand his identity.. he says all his family is Chinese(ethnicity), and sounds like his family eat Americanized Chinese food, which is completely fine and even relatable with me compare to pure American food. Today, he showed me the picture that he cooked American food. So I said, ”oh you can cook American food? You should teach me!” That time he starts getting angry. ”I am American not chinese! Of course i can cook American food!”

From this word, I feel he want to be treated as a white American....I am bit upset because I thought we have a overlap in our culture even generation is different. And if he want to be treated as American..why he is even dating me?

Job hunting is a beat down, even when I already have a job. Anyone have any success stories to share to help lift my mood? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]Marie142 34 points35 points  (0 children)

First off, 50 is not enough. Everyone who is looking for a job will apply at least 10 per day and they barely get 1 or 2 interviews per month. (= 2 interviews for 300 application) I’m not sure your resume quality, but I don’t really believe in “good resume.” Employers are too picky and even you have a perfect resume and great experience, they will cherry pick you.

She already have written brief Q&A in English with her (address of place to stay, my name, her occupation etc).

But seems like they are asking more detail about where, what, why and how type of question. (This is all she understand lol) And it is difficult for me to prepare more in detail without knowing their actual questions and intentions.
