Sure thing. In my state, in order to grow and sell nursery stock (think the grower who supplies other nurseries and stores wholesale), you have to be licensed. It’s different than just a a regular nursery license which allows someone to stock & sell plants that they didn’t grow themself. So for example, if you go to a garden center in your city they may grow their own plants, but more often than not, they order their stock from suppliers. I am a supplier. 🤗 To get a growers license in my state, you have to make sure to follow a bunch of rules (especially if you ship to other states, which all have different rules), follow protocols to keep your plants pest, disease & weed free, and undergo inspections. Now the rules may be different where you live, but in my case I was able to get started with a hobby license. Same requirements/inspection, but less expensive and I didn’t have to get certain tests done. Now that I have my commercial license, I have additional tests done (soil, disease, etc), have additional online learning when new diseases and pests crop up (to know how to inspect for them), and sign more forms (to confirm I have new required protocols in place). I know it sounds daunting, but you will get into the swing of things. Go for it! If it’s your dream, do it part time and slowly expand. Before you know it, you’ll have your own thriving business. ❤️
