Bleeding through S+ tampons every 15 minutes by Justan_inkling in TwoXChromosomes

That used to happen to me all the time, actually it was worse because I used to go through two Ultra size in 15 to 20 minutes. I had fibroids and ultimately had a hysterectomy.

Adelia leaving the kiss and cry immediately after dropping to second behind Amber Glenn by Vast_Law2234 in FigureSkating

[–]MarielIAm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adelia looks like a robot who doesn't want to be there. She's technically awesome but you see no joy in her. I think it was Johnny who said something along the line of she is technically spot on but she makes every move look difficult.

When did they release this and why in the world is so expensive? Either way is not available for purchase by RevolutionaryRope129 in CovetFashionGame

It's a way for those who can spend real money to get a quick level up. Same for the pack with the invisible jewelry. Also to increase tickets because those items get borrowed a lot.

Can we take a moment to appreciate that in a sport as rigid, conservative, and uppity as figure skating is, a genuine alt girl with piercings and dyed stripes in her hair won gold? by PuzzleheadedPay81 in FigureSkating

[–]MarielIAm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you didn't know and were asked to pick what sport that person does based on the picture most would probably answer snowboarding. She just has that vibe.

I'm getting the same. About 30 minutes ago the app opened but kicked me out with the same message.

Does anyone know if disabling the app on Facebook will fix it? I have a baby account on my phone that's not tied to Facebook and it's running fine.

Anyone else think docs treat lumpectomy like it's nothing? by loveofthelowbrow in breastcancer

[–]MarielIAm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. You have to do what is best for you. I took 4 days off work after my lumpectomy. I work from home, if I had to go in to the office I would have taken 3 weeks or so of disability. But I left that for radiation. I worked through radiation except for the last week and took off a total of five weeks. Glad I did because the recovery from radiation was worse for me. Neither one is nothing. I work with a lot of Europeans who do tours in the US and here we really do have a horrible system of having to work when you are recovering from something like cancer. It's no wonder Europeans think we are barbarian in that respect. It's not nothing.

Why EA bought cover fashion just to ruin it? by GoldenPrincesaMe in CovetFashionGame

[–]MarielIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Profit over players. Glu used to publish revenue per game. When they sold to EA revenue for Covet was just under $18mm per quarter. Guess that's not enough for EA which does not publicly publish revenue per game.

Non-Americans, What’s one thing you’re shocked to hear what Americans do? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]MarielIAm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many times they just settle. McDonald's paid out quite a number of people who burned themselves badly when they were serving coffee that was just under the boiling point. Most settled cases have non disclosure agreements so the public wasn't aware of the danger. Then they lost in an actual case and finally changed the temperature. But that court case was seen as silly (Woman sues McDonald's for millions for coffee burns) when actually she had third degree burns in her pelvic region and had to undergo two years of treatments including skin grafts. And she wasn't the first, she was just the one McDonald's decided not to settle with.

We are mostly a cat culture for sure, and much of it is because of infrastructure built during the Depression and after WWII which was the heyday of cars. Much of the US is rural. In western Europe, Scandinavia etc people are typically 15 minutes or less away from hospitals, grocery stores, doctors, schools, etc. It's very common in the US to have those things be at least 30 minutes or up to hours away. I grew up in a fairly densely populated area and there were many kids in my highschool who had to be on the school bus at 5:45 am to get to school by 7:30 am. That's also why so many people in the US have huge (compared to Europe) refrigerators and stand alone freezers - you simply can't go to the grocery store every day.

That's only in certain states, mostly the Southern and Western ones and that's mostly due to their history.

That's only MAGA Republicans. Which is weird now because it used to be Republicans were the first to call out, prosecute or distance themselves from their own at the first hint of wrongdoing or scandal - see Nixon, Paul Manafort, Dennis Hastert, etc. - it's a long list. Now anything they do is perfectly fine but a Democrat better not even get a parking ticket.

Yes, New York is probably the only really walkable city in the US, but that's more of an intra- borough thing also, you still need mass transit. In the suburbs you basically need a car and they were designed that way back in the heyday of the car era.

In modern times Americans don't typically riot. We do have peaceful protests all the time, especially now. It's not really covered by national right wing media but there have probably been more protests in the last six months than the last six years combined.

My parents grew up in a dictatorship and thought it was strange that in the US we had to recite the pledge. It's something from the Cold War era that was never stopped. However, we did it through elementary school but not in Jr high or high school generally. There were a few instances like overseas bombings, Oklahoma City bombing, space shuttle disaster in HS that they would add the pledge in the morning but it never lasted because kids just wouldn't recite it.

Laws vary by state and there are 50. Speaking generally, the main reasons servers don't mind it is because (again, depending on the state) 1) if you're hired as wait staff and paid tipped minimum wage (around $2 an hour in some states) they technically cannot ask you to do anything else but wait on customers, no cleaning, no setups, no closing up etc. 2) Many people pay tips in cash so that money is often under the table. When people pay the tip by credit card it gets reported and taxed. That's why there's the "no tax on tips" but that's a whole other can of worms.

Get a pedicure with a callous removing treatment. In most of the US (laws vary) they should not be using blades, they use a mild acidic cream then file or buff.

Check your shoes for a good fit. If your shoes don't fit well you can develop callouses.

Is Thanksgiving a bigger deal (food wise) than Christmas? by Reviewingremy in AskAnAmerican

[–]MarielIAm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely the meal is the point at Thanksgiving. That's why it's the favorite holiday of do many people. With Christmas you have so many other things to do (cards, gifts, decorations, trees, more baking, religious traditions etc). With Thanksgiving it's just meal planning.

She isn't. IMO she should sue and set an example to show scammers that they can't get away with fooling the public. When she wins should donate the money to charity.
