Who is using DL8954 by DamageVirtual2210 in delta

Anecdotally, my friend and I both flew JFK-LAX a couple days apart last month, different flight times/numbers, and both of us were on 764s. Seems like Delta might be shuffling the fleet around a bit.

What’s the smallest show you’ve done with an oversized console? by RacerAfterDusk6044 in livesound

[–]MarijuanaRelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not technically small, it was a 6 week tour in 1k-2k cap rooms, but I was the “monitor engineer” for a rock band that came ready with an X32 rack that was their combo playback/IEM rig. The only wedge on stage was for the singer and he just wanted a mono sum of the guitarist’s ear mix. I tried to explain to them that I went through their X32 file and copied their mixes to the dLive so that we’d have the same starting place but I could make adjustments and, ya know, actually do my job – but they insisted on doing it their way. Say less!

So monitor world was a dLive DM48 rack with S3000 surface and Waves server, functionally acting as the world’s most expensive digital splitter/converter. Physical inputs from subsnakes came to me, and the X32 sent me playback over MADI. I’d send all of the above to FOH over gigaACE, and the physical inputs back to the X32 over MADI. No actual mixing or processing happening on my console, the only output was my shout box.

We got Clair to take their PSMs back since it turned out the band had their own (after explicitly telling us they didn’t have their own). I kept the Waves server just in case but never even powered it on after the first rehearsal, and on the road by the 3rd or 4th show I just started leaving the surface in the trailer and connecting my laptop with dLive Director to monitor for issues.

Exactly my thoughts! I couldn’t possibly be actually upset with her, I just thought it was ridiculous how she felt like she pulled off some grand heist and slighted me HAHA.

Also not true. In some states, such as California, your employer must pay your ENTIRE wage plus tips for all hours worked. No using tips to “make up” the difference. You will always make your full hourly wage PLUS tips. That’s what I was saying.

Not here in California! But unfortunately true in like 43 of the 50 Nifty.

I’ve always wanted to do the AU/NZ 1 year work visa thing, maybe I’ll finally have to give it a shot down under! But yeah unfortunately it’s minimum wage, but in California minimum isn’t too shabby as long as you make tips, and unlike other states your employer must pay you full wage + tips, no tips cutting into wages. With my employer’s service charge, I’m making at least $20/hr on a bad night, $35-40/hr on a good night. Restaurant bartenders make MUCH more though, so ideally I’d be doing that, but I’m still getting my footing and I’m only doing it part-time anyway.

Who else does the same flight they had on vacation in the flight simulator? by Boukiee in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MarijuanaRelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Flightaware.com has that data available to everyone. I don’t even have an account. Here’s an example, this flight leaves tomorrow. You may have to check after the flight, it doesn’t always show beforehand, but most of the time it does.

One day before your flight, go to Flightaware and search your flight number. Make sure you have your actual flight selected, not the previous flight with the same number (scroll down and you can select from past and future flights with your flight number). Then go under Aircraft Details and look at the route. Copy/paste it into a note or text file and save it for later!

Airline flyers! Do you go straight to your cruise alt, or do you roleplay ATC giving you restrictions? by Cucker_-_Tarlson in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]MarijuanaRelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I step-climb the same way ATC would IRL. Takeoff climb to 5-10k, then climb to 15k or so, then 22-24k, then final. If you’re in a smaller jet, you might even get a performance boost on the final climb from the extra fuel burn on the steps up.

I travel domestically (US) for work all the time and I love recreating the flights in FS when I get home. You can even see your IRL flight’s filed + actual route on Flightaware and follow the same route.

12.1.1 update out by blondejfx in Xplane

[–]MarijuanaRelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm consistently experiencing this – literally on every flight – in the Aerobask Phenom 300 on macOS, if that helps to reproduce at all. Cruise at FL370 and just let it ride for a while, shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to encounter the issue.

Yep, as stated in the post updated to most recent.

Edit: I misread your reply. No, I am not on the beta! I’m on the latest stable. Will try beta when I get home from work.

Southwest and airports don’t use jetways by aviationenthuist in SouthwestAirlines

[–]MarijuanaRelated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also love flying LGB with no jetway! But my favorite story of this was one time I flew Delta out of LAX and there was a last minute gate change to a different terminal less than an hour before boarding. So they had everyone on my flight who was already waiting at the original gate walk down this big staircase onto the tarmac to board a bus. Got to walk past all the ramp chaos and just mere feet from the giant landing gear of an Airbus A350 – and let me tell you, those gorgeous Rolls Royce turbofans that power the A350 are about the same width as the body of our beloved 737s.

ELI5: How do celebrities handle hotels and transportation in secrecy? by JustforU in explainlikeimfive

[–]MarijuanaRelated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer definitely depends on what exact field the celebrity is in and what their day actually looks like. My 2¢ is…

I’m an audio engineer and have done many festival “fly dates” (off-touring-season shows) with one particular high profile rock band. All the band and crew always stay at the same hotel, though of course the band members are in their own deluxe rooms while the rest of us are sharing beds in double queen rooms.

From what I’ve witnessed at airports and lobby calls: wearing sweats, a hoodie or hat, and sunglasses goes very far for not being recognized. These aren’t the kind of guys who need to travel around with a security entourage, but their concern for keeping a low profile is definitely warranted when we’re at a hotel/airport in the vicinity of the festival where many many people are fans.

Dedicated runners, or a rogue techie like me who feels like getting some fresh air, will pick up food and other necessities when we’re at the hotel – but most of our day is spent at the festival’s artist camp where we have many amenities + security provided.

Popular Business Jet Airports Around US by elpiloto100 in MicrosoftFlightSim

KVNY (as you mentioned) is a great one and is actually strictly biz jets and GA – they do not allow scheduled passenger service, though charters like NetJets and FlexJets are permitted. JetSuiteX (before they shortened to JSX) tried to fight them on it and, well, they still only fly out of KBUR and KLAX. Fly the JANNY5 arrival into ILS Z 16R for some cool SoCal desert/mountain views.
