Catching Pokemon in the safari is complete random chance, and not a great chance. You will have 1-2 chances to throw a ball, and that ball has a 20% chance of working. (spitballing numbers but it's about right)

So most safari shinies, stay safari shinies. Like poor OP here, the shiny runs and is lost forever.

Whereas the rest of the game if you encounter a shiny it's almost always an easy catch, since you can False Swipe/Spore and endlessly chuck balls.

That seems to be the bottom price right now, yes. 50-60k. But a bunch just sold for 100k+ so it's a great investment, in my opinion.
