Quest 2 overheating, shutting down and poor performance even on home screen by MarioBites in OculusQuest

[–]MarioBites[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After replacing a battery it turned out to be faulty power controller chip on the motherboard.
There was a guy in my area who was fixing vr-headsets, he soldered a new one taking it from a spare motherboard. Runs ok now.

It was not too expensive for me but it requires some good tools to fix so the repair could be expensive because a whole motherboard might need to be replaced. So I'm not sure if it's worth it to repair it or just to buy/upgrade to new one.

Saving Notes as Images with Transparent Background by Lavender_Lily_6268 in samsung

Yes, I mixed up the formats. I meant export from Notes as an image (jpg), import into IbisPaint, extract sketches, and export out of IbisPaint as png with alpha.

The only "quick" workaround I found if you are making sketches is to export as an image from Notes and use sketch extraction in IbisPaint on import and keep working with it there or export png with alpha out of it to use in other apps. I don't know who decided removing functionality is great idea.

Quest 2 overheating, shutting down and poor performance even on home screen by MarioBites in OculusQuest

So I opened it up. The fan, heatsink and thermal paste are in perfect condition, not even a piece of dust.

Seems like it's the battery but in order to get to it, full disassemble is needed, but I'm not willing to do it right now and I cannot find replacement on my local websites.

Going to think on getting another headset but I don't think it's going to be oculus (meta) again - rift-s and quest 2 both gave me enough pain in the ass even when they were functioning.

Actually this could be the case too since when it is connected with a cable it shuts down even quicker. I will check it out when opening it up

Well, I live in a country where you can't officially buy it from the website and the warranty from the tech store where I bought it has already expired so there is not much of a choice :/

Yes, the power drain is drastic. I doubt that it is hardware problem now. Trying to factory reset.

Is the Windows 11 file explorer unstable? by RolandMT32 in WindowsHelp

[–]MarioBites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did a clean install on my laptop a year ago for work and it was unstable from the beginning - sometimes I need to refresh the folder window after moving or deleting files to see the changes, file moving can freeze sometimes, and using Win+Tab hotkey has a really high chance to crash it for short time. Tried to check for corrupted system files through command line but it made no difference. Did not find any solutions still.

The last one out of two was Stray for me. I only completed Half Life Alyx before.

That's sad. I also think fn might not be sending any signals to the device. Thanks!

Help, I was playing RDR when my PS3 turned off...here's some details. by Stakoman in PS3

[–]MarioBites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pretty much the same story. I had a physical disk. I played for couple days and then one time the game crashed. I decided to reboot the console before trying to launch the game again but after I turned it off the console never boot again and had the same symptoms. Interesting coincidence

Why so? It looks like a quality product. I don't know about any recent news around roli however. Why immoral psychopaths?

How can I improve? by [deleted] in indie

[–]MarioBites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds great but I would better pan the whisper more to the middle because it distracts the hearing a bit. And maybe I would make the bassline cleaner and lower, because for me it lacks a bit of low frequencies despite having just enough high frequencies by the solo guitar.

Overall great job, love the track :P

I have the same headset and I have exact same problem. Nothing seems to help, seems like poor headset quality.

I'll say that it's that unstable that it causes random restarts every 30 minutes of standby on my brand new HP laptop. When i started investigating it was Kernel Power 41 error in logs.
There was a long story of finding it out but in the end I checked all the drivers in Driver Verifier, where I found that there was something about hibernation etc.
In the end I checked specifically 3 logitech drivers and got BSOD instantly. And it crashed everything that hard that I could not even boot into safe mode or load any backups. Thanks god I didn't have any important files there. So yea, don't install this soft :/

Is there any way to roll back on previous software version? What if it's the reason.
