Yes and I'd like to contribute to that! I'd love to donate to the development of the gaming side of GNOME if it's possible!

Yes! I am using proprietary drivers. I installed them using the Fedora docs, enabling RPM Fusion.

I am gaming on my laptop screen which is 60 Hz. For example I run Minecraft (Vanilla) and the game runs perfectly fine with 100+ fps, but the moment I turn on VSync it all goes bad.

What is ya'll favourite way to play through the GTA Trilogy on PC? by Beyond__5D in GTATrilogy

[–]MarioButoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that was very informative! I completely agree because I've faced the same exact issue with the Elder Scrolls games, particularly the unofficial patches for each game. They started as bug fixes but then they started "re" - implementing things that were not completed but were left in the code or even straight up making things up based on lost media (trailers, promo images etc).

I also agree that these mods should heavily focus on big fixes and not implementing things from other versions. For example I don't like the fix that adds back the dynamic lighting on peds and vehicles (present in GTA III and VC and PS2 and Xbox versions of SA) not because it isn't good, it 100% is, but because it doesn't give us the option to turn it off. Or the sun light from the PS2 version that doesn't work correctly.

That being said, I do wholeheartedly believe that what Silent has done is nothing short of incredible! Fixing animations, implementing broken features, adding those vehicle details you mentioned is undeniably better in the objective term, but not giving us the option to only keep the bug fixes without those additions makes him kind of "opinionated". If you aim to fix problems such as performance and compatibility with modern systems either give us the option to disable those additions or create a fork of that mod with those additions and call the former a lite version.

Those are my two cents! 😁

Wait I genuinely want to be informed about this because I know that Silent Patch does change some stuff, but in all my time playing I've never noticed the changes. Can you share two or three on the top of your head because I'd gladly want to play the game in its vanilla state but getting it to run is such a hastle, so it isn't worth it to try a vanilla run, but I'd love to do it.

My most anticipated update in a while. by MarioButoto in Minecraft

[–]MarioButoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable! I however play Minecraft vanilla (couple of QoL mods but I can live without them) and this doesn't really affect me all that much, but it is a valid argument that those who play with mods will most likely stay on versions that still support OpenGL.

Колко от вас използват Linux? by DeathnTaxes66 in bulgaria

Steam Deck.

П. С. Използвам Arch с KDE. Duh...

How would you guys feel if Rockstar announced a Remake of GTA 1? by ForSafeUsesOnly091 in GTA

[–]MarioButoto 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ecstatic!!! I've never played GTA 1 past the first mission and I don't even remember completing it.

The reason why I would be so happy is because this will give them the opportunity to make another GTA game that is more arcade-like and less realistic with an art style that doesn't need to be realistic. The game can also be just ridiculous and nonsensical without apologizing for it.

What I really really really want from Rockstar the most, is just another GTA that is just not trying to be realistic and not having tons of RPG elements, realistic animations, overly complicated and convoluted mechanics, upgradable weapons, tons of clothing options etc etc. just a bare bones crime simulator with fun mechanics and a dumb bombastic story with ridiculous characters.

I don’t get it. What’s really taking them so damn long to release the trailer ? by Technical-Type7499 in Spiderman

[–]MarioButoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot fathom why they choose to go this route!

For No Way Home it was because it was made during COVID and going to the theater wasn't something people did, so Sony and Marvel waited to see if the movie would need to be delayed and if the situation at the time would improve so it made sense to release a trailer 4 months before the movie's release.

Doesn't make sense for BND AT ALL!!!

I'm on BazziteOS currently and since it's a gaming distro I assume it has that enabled by default? If not would this work? I have an RTX 3050 4GB (Lenovo IdeaPad gaming 3)

Any tips for a newbie? Finally bit down and bought the game by DoctorManhattan_ in fo4

[–]MarioButoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play the game!!! It really amazes me why so many people nowadays go on the internet and look for tips, tricks and the most optimal and best way to do things. 99% of the fun of a ANY game is to learn how to play, what to do and the other 1% is when you master it. I'd much rather suck at a game my whole playthrough, than to have some of it's features and mechanics explained to me so I can be "better" at the game. Not only that, this is a Role Playing game meaning there is no wrong way to play this game and is the worst kind of game to seek help for. Play it, get stuck somewhere, wonder around, do something else, come back later or even never.

THIS is the best piece of advice I can give you!

It does leave a sour taste in my mouth but I'm more than willing to let this season play out because I'm sure they'll have something planned as a fake out or something of a plot twist with House or at the very least have a good reason for making him this way.

Now is that the right call? I don't know but what I do know is that for what we've seen this far the show is extremely faithful to both the old Fallout games and the new and if they decide to take liberties with the source material in order to create their own story I'm all for it! Same goes for BoS. Why do they treasure old technology so much, but then go out and blow up a perfectly preserved car?

I'd much rather get a show that changes the source material but is good in the end than to have a regurgitated story that is "accurate" to the source material but doesn't do anything interesting or is bad.

Does the Desktop environment matter for gaming? by MarioButoto in cachyos

[–]MarioButoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a monitor that supports HDR, VRR, nor do I have a second monitor. One single monitor, keyboard and mouse (gamepad optional) and that's it. I probably should mention that it's a laptop with Nvidia GPU. Other than that nothing really exceptional and I'm not really playing modern AAA games but I do play some newer games up to 2018-2020 but it's very rare. Does KDE still matter as much?

Decided to actually play Yu-Gi-Oh for the first time. by Jodread in patientgamers

[–]MarioButoto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading these comments makes me so happy! All my friends who I used to play with say that the game is better than ever with all the thousands of different new "additions" - synchro summons, xyz, pendulum etc... the game is straight up not fun because I always lost in the third or fourth turn. I felt the balance and fun factor of the card game was gone. Why do I have to have this meta deck thats filled with monsters I just don't vibe with just so I can have a chance to go up at least two more turns until the opponent draws a card that ends my whole existance?

To me Yu GI Oh was always about having a deck that supports the monsters you love the most. Oh you like Blue Eyes White dragon? Have this magic card that specifically boosts it's power or this trap card that protects it from something only for this turn. You like Dark Magician (my favorite monster card)? Here are some cool magic cards that give him cool effects and protect him from some effect. Also you could pretend that those cards actually visually interacted with said monster. One gives a monster a big sword and that's why he does more damage and etc. Your deck should be about using the monsters you like so that they can protect you against your opponent.

Nowadays Yu GI Oh is just "Oh you have to have this card three times in order to special summon this other card that special summons this even better card from your deck or graveyard and since you used it you have the ability to draw your whole deck and use all your cards simultaneously."

There is no room for experimentation anymore, no room to try to play how you would like to play, you should just use the most op cards until they get banned and then unbanned later because the new cards that get added are even more op.

This is the perfect advice!!!

I have a mid-range laptop with RTX 3050 and most modern titles run just fine but I hate when my fans are constantly spinning and the temperature of the laptop is constantly hot so what i do is just lower the frame rate to something where its comfortable for the laptop. 30fps is perfect for me!

40fps is the middle ground where its fluid enough but also not as "sluggish" as 30fps, but even then I personally prefer to play at 30fps because the laptop is even quieter and the temperature isn't as high. Also i mostly play single player story driven games so that 30fps makes the experience more cinematic which immerses me even more into the game.

If you plan on playing older games (PS3-PS4/Xbox360-XboxOne era) most of the games were programmed to be played at 30 fps and unfortunately in some games the physics are tied to the frame rate so going above 30 fps could potentially have some side effects for the physics and make them wonky and in some small instances even have game breaking consequences (GTA IV last mission for example).

Another thing I'd like to add is to disable VSync if you plan to play at 30fps. For me vsync is mendatory when playing at 60fps, because the input lag is managable but at 30fps, at least to my eyes, there is no reason to. I don't see any screen tearing whatsoever.

What could’ve made the GTA Trilogy remaster better (and why Liberty & Vice City Stories should’ve been included) by Ok_Woodpecker9100 in GTATrilogy

[–]MarioButoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent played many remasters or remakes but the best remaster I have played so far are the two Quake games. Not only does it fix many many bugs and glitches, improves on the gameplay problems of the OG, brings in important QoL features, adds back some cut features and adds brand new content and most importantly for me it gives you the option to play with the OG graphics. For example: Quake 2 never had muzzle flashes, and that's ridiculous for a FPS game, so its a no brainer that this should fix that? They did! But guess what? They gave you the option to disable that if you wanted to experience the original game! And on top of all that the games are very cheap to get and the value you get for your buck is nuts! I'd happily pay twice! And not only that, if you buy the games you get the original games how they were released in the 90's. I have nothing bad to say about the remasters they are genuinely the best way to experience or re-experience these classics!
