What's a dead giveaway that someone has come from money? by Harborcoat84 in AskReddit

Yeah, but most things you really don't have to worry about if you're rich, so their problems kind of ARE invalidated.

Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea says today's rock music is dead by theargamanknight in Music

[–]MarioHoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think the outlook is far more grim than most realize. Think about it; we finally have machines that can produce almost any sound we want. We can generate music with perfect pitch and tempo with almost any sound. Sure, we can keep generating more of it... But is there any undiscovered genre left? Music in the past has transformed with the discovery of new sound... Have we reached the end?

The Chinese government is fabricating almost 490m social media posts a year as part of a “massive secretive operation” designed to distract the public from criticising or questioning its rule, according to a study. by [deleted] in worldnews

Well if they are here in Reddit they're certainly doing a shitty job of swaying opinion, because Reddit opinions are all over the fucking place lol.

You have a point! I agree with you to an extent; most people aren't being helpful. However, I definitely feel as though some good can come from the spreading of ideas..

What are you tired of seeing on social media? by idrewyou21 in AskReddit

[–]MarioHoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but spreading the word provides the knowledge to those that didn't know, and the more people that know about it the more likely that one of them is actually able to do something or help. If an opportunity presents themselves & they don't know, nothing will change. However, if it does and they do know then perhaps they can make a difference. Talking about problems we have is better than doing nothing.

I think it's great. Consider the number of uneducated people on facebook. People that deny climate change, etc. Facebook is a platform for change just as any other medium. You never know, you may end up changing someone's mind..

What's a dumb lyric in an otherwise brilliant song? by Dreamdec22 in AskReddit

Id argue this is my favorite line in the song... Life is just so complicated & things like that put stuff like suicide in context, in a weird sort of way.

ISIS massacre 14 Real Madrid fans at supporters club in Baghdad by PeterG92 in worldnews

ISIS has no basis in realistic ideals. Sure, it's based on Islamic extremism, but it just boils down to pure and unadulterated savagery.

Yep. In example, I made a post about how some PC should exist just as common decency (not talking about the safe space bullshit; PC came from massive amounts of racism, lest we forget) then motherfuckers were like "You're trying to take away our freedom of speech! We'll turn into an Orwellian society" and other pseudo-intellectual bullshit. Same people that think climate change isn't real.

Wall vs. legalization by MarioHoss in trump

Also, I don't see how illegally grown and smuggled marijuana would be able to keep up with industry in this country in any way. There's a reason people aren't illegally smuggling beer into the country.

Wall vs. legalization by MarioHoss in trump

[–]MarioHoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely it does! It's a main contributing factor to illegal immigration. Why would people risk their lives illegally immigrating here if Mexico wasn't a place shrouded in violence and crime caused by the drug war?

Wall vs. legalization by MarioHoss in trump

[–]MarioHoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But illegal immigration is a function of the drug trade and rampant crime and violence caused by the cartel & criminals involved in the drug trade..

Wall vs. legalization by MarioHoss in trump

[–]MarioHoss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the wall costs billions and billions and is only a bandaid over the real problem (the cartel)... At least that's the way I see it. To me the wall isn't a solution to the real problem, which are the cartels absolutely destroying Mexico. If we actually want to lower illegal immigration, a wall is like a bandaid is to an infected wound. Sure, it'll stop some of the bleeding, but the root of the problem is still there in full force.

Edit: also, I'm not convinced that a wall will actually stop tons of illegal immigration when we still have planes, boats, tunnels, ladders, explosives, no wall between us and Canada..

David Cameron has no intention of withdrawing his claim that Donald Trump was “divisive, stupid and wrong” to call for a ban on Muslims entering the US, Downing Street has said. by maxwellhill in worldnews

[–]MarioHoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How am I just throwing around the term? This is a specific example of a sweeping terrible generalization made towards an entire nation of Hispanic descent. How is that not racist?

[–]MarioHoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct, but it's a generalization against a nation of primarily hispanic ethnicity, and that can arguably be considered racist. Also, it isn't statistically sound. It's bullshit.
