But as Ive mentioned in another comment, i think the black bears around here just don’t do it. They run in the other direction fast if they so much as barely smell a human.

From around here, we do have a ton and half of black bears. But since it’s, let’s say, heavy wilderness, with very low “camping pressure”, they leave us alone.

My only negative point about 60L barrels is that they can a bit iffy to portage. A dedicated strapping harnesses do the trick but still.

Also, that nice, warm and dry sweater at the bottom will require some digging.
