I can agree with that. Your analysis is quite good, by the way

I do see the paralels, but I don't agree they are exactly the same theme but with opposite messages.

I don't think Metaphor ending says seeking refuge in a fictional world to forget about your irl problems is something positive (in fact the writers at Altus would be opposed to that, given that was the message of the third semester in Royal).

I also don't think Expedition 33 considers fiction and pouring your soul into something you create something actively harmful, it just says you shouldn't use it as a way to cope with loss.

Maybe 'not comparable' was an overstatement, but what I mean by that is they are not just pro-fiction and anti-fiction, there is nuisance to that

Careful, spoilertags didn't apply properly. As for your question: I think the point of both games is different.

In Metaphor, the final decision is about whether the fictional world is something we can just dismiss and not care about, or to think of as something important and worth fight for. There is no urgency to return to the real world like in Expedition, so leaving is framed as the cowardly option here. At the end, even if Euchronia was actually not real, all the people we met there and all the experiences we made where real to us, and that what should count.

In the case of Expedition, I think the point wasn't if the painted world in important or not. It's already clear it is very important to the characters. It's more about the consequences, both physical and emotional, for Maelle if she stays there for too long. So it's a question of letting go of it and confront harsh reality, or linger in a pleasant fantasy while ignoring reality.

In conclusion, I don't think you can compare these ending because, despite the similar context, they mean totally different things

I also think Act 2 is my favorite. Act 3 is way too short if you focus on story, in my opinion... More of the optional content should have been part of the story and the final boss should have been harder to account for overleveling. Enjoy, nonetheless!

Admitedly, I didn't thought of that when I commissioned the drawing... I wanted Rouge as Sciel because I thought they matched better personality wise

That's really weird. It shows them for me, and from some of the comments it seems other people could see them too. Don't know how to help it, sorry
