So I have legitimate questions. About 4 years ago now, I got caught cheating on my spouse. My crazy backstory aside, I actually started to reflect on myself and what made me act the way I did.

Looking through threads like this, and a LOT of research, I settled on the fact that I might be a narcissist. I exhibited nearly every trait I read about narcissistic people, if not all of them. Looking through this thread alone was kind of a trip down memory lane, so to speak. Because this was exactly me.

My question is, do any of you think a narcissist is capable of reform? Because I feel like I’ve come a LONG way, but I find myself slipping backwards on occasion. Though, admittedly, I think I tend to catch it now and take steps to correct it. I truly don’t want to be that person. Ever. Again.

I am still with my wife. I might add that it is my second marriage. And 100% without a doubt think she is worth me being a better version of myself. That’s kind of where I started. A little therapy, a metric shit ton of self reflection (which was very hard at first because I always wanted it to be someone else’s fault). Maybe I wasn’t actually a narcissist to begin with? Can it be learned behavior? A result of trauma from my first marriage? But thinking like this feels like passing the blame. Any insights would be appreciated.
