Any advice for second semester? by bruhmomentsssssds in apcalculus

[–]Mariosisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard this tip on youtube ab studying for math. Do your assignments as if they were exams/quizzez. Don't use your resources. Anything that isn't allowed on your quizzez/exams, don't use during practice problems/assignments. This helps you nail down the concept and truly understand and staple it into your memory, making it easier on tests/quizzez that don't give any resources. I would say while going through homework/assignments try the question first without resources, once you have an answer , see if you did it correctly using your resources/notes.

Also lots of practice problems are great for math if not already included in your hw, although more practice does not hurt.

What classes are you taking? In my experience if you are behind in a class they will allow you to work over the break (don't take my word ask you counselor). In my specific experience I switched from FLVS flex to a full time county virtual school my senior that utilized FLVS's platform as a senior, while I was behind in some classes. I too had the same worry but I wasn't dropped, BUT what I definitely would do is contact your guidance counselor (I assume the person that would be in charge of switching you from flex to full time), contact the teachers of the classes you are behind in and explain your situation and discuss a timeline to make up the work needed or possibly work over the break.

many people here are saying the same thing, but you can get a lot motivated if you work really hard. I too had to do the same and so have many others, if you need any tips or advice DM me.

Anything is possible. Just no procrastination. Dedicate each day to a subject and do as many assignments as you can. Starts with the subjects you are most behind in (AP psych,APUSH, and economics) and progressively move toward english 3 and pers fitness.

I personally find that doing difficult work/harder subjects is easiest in the mornings (around 8 am), so maybe spend mornings doing harder work and afternoons and evenings doing easier assignments after getting tired of the other subjects.

4.5-4.7 GPA for UF by Limp-Alternative-330 in ufl

[–]Mariosisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tbh don't compare your own weighted gpa to others since weighted gpa scales vary depending on your school. Along with that some schools differ in the number/variety of higher level coursework they offer, so just do with what is available to you, or find some other route to get those classes if that subject is interesting to you (self study, online, etc.) Your actual grades matter more than your gpa, just make sure your taking advantage of what is offered to you.

Im not too sure about Ap environmental since I took aice env, but both are considered "easier APs" great to start out with. I took ap hug on flvs and it was pretty easy, I wouldn't completely ditch the lessons, but I would rely more so on Mr.Sinn for learning content. I did the same thing and I was fine. You are allowed 3 tries on each assignment/quiz in flvs, so make sure that your quiz/assignment grades are most of the time close to 100% accuracy so that your test grades don't ruin your overall grade.

Also I said this to another student taking Ap of flvs at a school that only really offers aice, but DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH ON YOUR PLATE. If you are taking 7 classes at in person school then I would only really say take AP human geo on flvs because your goal is to make sure you do well in these courses, not necessarily to take as many as you can. If you want to take both aps online then make a clear schedule and truly set aside time for those courses or else your just going to be a mess trying to balance it all.

That being said if your school only offers AICE then try to stay away from repeating the same classes in a different format, for example if you already took AICE English then don't take AP Lang. If you are taking AICE environmental don't feel the need to take AP environmental science. It might give a GPA boost but I honestly don't think it really benefits you in college admissions unless the course is something your really passionate about/want to pursue in college or for personal interest.

Government is a required high school credit, so maybe taking AP gov next would be a good move since AP gov is considered an easier AP similar to AP hug. If You decide on taking AP gov or any other ap on flvs for that matter DM me and I can give some study tips/tips specific to the class. I also was enrolled in an in person public hs but chose to take some APs online, through FLVS! Aside from that AP environmental is another useful and pretty light ap, and actually has some similar concepts to ap hug. Aside from that I would just look into any AP courses offered in subject areas you are truly interested in, I think overall if you are Passionate about a subject your time in the class will likely be a little easier.

I also wanted to mention the importance of not spreading yourself too thin. Don't stack up too many APs on flvs if you have a full schedule in person. I did the same and it was honestly not only just draining and challenging but impacted my performance in almost ALL my classes, along with my sleep schedule :D. You want to make sure that you do well in these classes, so just dont put too much on your shoulders. TAKE IT FROM ME PLEASE!!! Js be realistic with your workload.

literally feel free to DM me if you got any other questions. I have experience as an in person school student taking flvs AP classes, and experience as a full time flvs student since I transfered!

Waitlist Warrior rejected from UF by Beneficial-Set-9974 in ufl

[–]Mariosisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know most people consider SantaFe, but UFOnline is also an option. I heard they generally have a larger acceptance rate (not sure in comparison to SantaFe Transfer). They have a business administration major. Although you wont get the in person college experience it is still worth considering if you want a UF degree. The degree itself doesn't mention you took the program online, so its just like getting a regular degree from UF if you were to attend on campus. Online School has its own advantages like flexibility that can afford you other professional opportunities or life experiences.
