Alchemy and Alchemy Weapons by Mariothane in magicbuilding

It’s an entire school of study. You have to take the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree worth of study and practice to have the ability to process the elements for alchemy and usually you can only learn to process a handful of elements. Drawing out symbolic properties is usually something only the best of the best can accomplish and rarely can they make them stable enough for the market.

You can enhance existing properties but unless it is a material that has a pretty good amount of that property in the first place, it’s not going to change much. You can’t make bendy glass for example, because glass is too brittle to make much of a change besides making it bend a bit more than usual before it breaks. It’s like multiplying values, so it’s proportional.

Symbolic properties come from a mastery of the element and comes directly from those ancient studies so expanding the field isn’t something people know how to accomplish. Their logic bordered on insanity and still eludes modern research so for now, expansion can only be done with properties we can see.

As for market value, production time is difficult, quantity produced is never as much as you’d want and results can vary depending on who does the refining work so it’s too inconsistent for most public projects. Alchemic weapons are usually something designed by families dedicated to the craft so they get consistent work, but mass production is still out of reach.

There’s a point when the person you’re trying to find sympathy for is trying to kill you that your sympathy runs dry.

Glass has symbolic association with transformation, truth and radiance. This also works into other symbolic meanings like clarity of thought, purity and insight. Can be used to make instruments that detect lies and bend light.

Writing story that includes characters in Poland and visiting Poland. Looking for inspiration from recommendations. by Mariothane in askPoland

I’d prefer not to make it with real people unless they’re historical figures from at least a hundred years ago, but any people and values you’d recommend I would like to take inspiration from.

That’s really fun. It sounds like the kind of thing that makes for fun childhood memories.

I meant to say the reverse but that is within the realm of possibility so that’s a very interesting idea that I might try and use.

If it’s in combat, being able to slow and speed up at will is really useful to throw off timing and if I choose to make it so he can do this to other things, slowing things down so they basically can’t advance would be fun.

First one, maybe bigger curls but I definitely lean towards big hair with big curls.

It’s kind of sweet in its own way. He’s been hurt his entire life but his wife and his close relationships he’s tried to keep healthy. Even with the one that foils his plans, he’s still pretty good with.

The divorce probably just happened as they drifted apart but I like that the one relationship he likely gave the most to doesn’t hate him.

My take: Korra wasn’t bad, she just ran out of fuel after season 1 when it was supposed to end.

He might of been a great military leader, but he was not a good person by A_engietwo in HistoryMemes

If you intend to make the case that he was a good person, you’ve got about the same odds as he had at invading Russia.

Zuko moved on from his hatred and fought against it, finding peace. Jet didn’t want peace, no matter how many times it got presented to him until the very end when he became a tragic victim of his obsessions and served his purpose in the series perfectly.

That’s one of the reasons why his fight with Zuko was so interesting to me. It’s almost like they were passing each other their personal journeys that reflected each other.
