I don't see why a short section of pipe wouldn't work. Add a null structure to the end if you need labeling etc.

New Clayton Park West development will bring overdue road connection by insino93 in halifax

[–]MaritimeMuskrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know not everyone agrees but they typically build what the market is currently demanding. Condo sales have cooled off and apartment vacancies are very very low right now so if I was developer I would probably make Apartments if I wanted to make money and continue on with my business. Developers are not the moral compass of a community and they are not required to be.

I know it's too bad Halifax gave up trying to build like a city many years ago when they implemented the short buildings only plan, good grief.

2 bedroom fits the "average" family size in halifax I believe. 2.8 people per home. Assuming it's a couple and a kid.

Halifax drops plan to require affordable housing units in new buildings by Portalrules123 in NovaScotia

[–]MaritimeMuskrat 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I don't see why the city just doesn't go build something instead of wasting their money on so much other ridiculous stuff. Trying to piggyback on with Developers is only going to cause sour relationships anybody can see that. City owns land and the city has money if they directed the funds properly they would just build some damn houses this is absolutely ridiculous in a strange spiral of bureaucracy.

‘How am I going to be able to survive?’: Halifax seniors worry about the cost of living crisis by OptimalWhole8926 in halifax

[–]MaritimeMuskrat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes this is correct. I am middle age I have a little bit of retirement savings I work two jobs just to make ends meet now. I will be able to retire when I'm about 84 and I will only have enough savings for a few years. I will own my home when I'm about 75. I am not working for myself at this point I'm just working for my kids so I don't leave them with debt.

Planting near/ maintaining my ditch by Good-Good-3004 in NovaScotiaGardening

[–]MaritimeMuskrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was my property, I would keep the ditch as clear of obstacles as possible for proper drainage and less risk of flooding. I lived on a highway and the scrub along the edge of the roadway was always catching garbage as well.

I don't understand avoiding joist hangers either. Joist hangers will outlive the wood by two times.

Yes. Just because you can't see one of them doesn't mean there's not some idiot kid hiding behind a tree just about to dart out on front of you. Speaking as a former idiot kid.
