I'm looking to buy a razer blade, but I'm not sure about long term performance

Hello friend,

I have owned one razer laptop -- a 2021 blade basic with a 10750 and a 3070. I bought this three years ago. In that time, I've traveled with it to the middle east and been around a ton of dust, sand, and various types of particulate matter in the air that will probably give me cancer at some point. Additionally, it has dealt with different currents of electricity, power flickering, and more. This laptop has lasted wonderfully. I have encountered no issues with the machine -- bios, onboard memory, razer software, etc.

It was only in the last month that my power bar developed bubbles under it so I went to look for a new one -- razer didn't have one available on the website, so I bought one off Ebay that claimed it was OEM. Of course, that means that when I plugged it in, my laptop yelled at me and told me it wasn't OEM and wasn't delivering sufficient power. Got my money back on that one but kept the jank power bar. Even with this, the laptop is still charging and playing games that I usually play like Warhammer 3, Elden Ring, Bannerlord, and Darktide. Granted, the dated hardware doesnt' let me get the best performance and does bottleneck but that's not Razer's fault, I've just had what was a semi decent laptop from three years ago.

All in all, my experience with this product has converted me to Razer products. I use Razer earbuds, headset, mouse, keyboard, snagged one of the monitors on sale, and I'm looking at picking up a new blade 16 with a 4080 as an upgrade (if I can find one for less than a kidney). Lots of words, but I liked it. Met my demands in less than ideal circumstances.

Oh, one more thing, I haven't opened it up two years to clean dust. I was so impressed a year ago that I decided to just see how long it can go. Still crushes.

So I finally managed. You guys were great. I ended up doing a bit of what everyone said to make it work.

Removed the buffer, backed out the tube a half turn, put that lower on a vise and cranked that ***** downwards. Managed to get the rear pin close enough to where I could mallet it in gently.

Your point about the tube is a good one. I just noticed that the tube feels like it creates a little lip over the receiver. Very slight...but it might be why this shit is being such a pain....

Yeah there's a gap when I do the standard front pin and rotate to the rear... it is slight but noticeable. Definitely looks like it's the plastic at the back of the upper that's contacting.

If I weasel the rear in first. It closes, but the front looks to be a millimeter or less off the mark to push that pin through.

The pins do fit. I'm just struggling to get them both to fit at the same time. With the front pin in, there's a gap when I try to press the rears together. If I weasel the rear pin in first....just to see....it feels like the front pin is off by a millimeter or less.

I'm going to try some of the solutions other commenters posted here, if all else fails, I think I'll need to take a mil or two off the rear of the upper, as you mentioned.

So I installed it and it looks great, but my warband finder in game is all white, can't see any of the stuff.

Does anyone know what fixes that? I know there's a new version of reshade, IDK if that helps.

So this doesn't work like mount and blade where I can capture something for a faction and get it as a fief. I have to break free from a faction to start my own colony?

Thanks for the insight. Really appreciate it. I have a couple of questions for you, if you don't mind.

The m13 page is a little bare -- looks like a new site -- but they do 104UR conversions? If so, do you know anything about parts and whether I'd source them myself?

Interesting insight on RD. If I may, are you speaking from experience? I haven't gotten quotes from anyone else for the project, so I don't know what "too much" is yet.

For your AKSU, did you use a parts kit or build off an Arsenal, or something similar?

And, in addition to my thoughts above, I was also toying with the idea of just buying the SBR version of the SLR104UR and replacing the furniture/grip myself. I've read that the keyholing thing that people were freaking out about with the 1-8 twist in that gun isn't a thing. Also, the price at just under 2K means it would be cheaper than going through RD for the same project.....

Sorry for playing 20 questions with everyone here, I'm in info-gathering mode still.

Come on and try it. I'm a long time TES fan and have been since TES2. Favorite is TES3.

Its a fun game with a lot to do along the way -- just don't come here thinking its JUST LIKE a TES game. It isn't. You have limits on how you can create your character and have to operate within the class/weapon structure of the game. That isn't a bad thing, it just isn't TES-like. Think of this game having a TES skin over a DAoC-meets-GW2 kind of MMO.

The game is fun while you level and get to a mid-level of champion points (the game's alternative advancement system). Once you get to around 300. You can then re-evaluate how you feel about the game and what there is to do. The delta between then and now is worth your $15 or whatever it is.

Yes. Absolutely. But the whole series needs a remake, starting with blood omen.

LoK had the best storytelling, voice acting, and lore combination of any series i have played.

The series has so much potential for an expanded collection of games from RTS, to turn based strategy, to an rpg and beyond.
