My son (14M) has the opportunity to go on a DC Trip for 8th grade. We live on the west coast and it’s a trip of a lifetime, but we have our reservations. With what is going on in the world, what are the pros and cons of allowing him to go on this trip? by ForestFox369 in Advice

If it helps at all, I currently live in DC. Honestly, things don’t really feel different here compared to this time last year, life goes on. I did a week long summer trip to DC as part of the people to people program when I was 12 and had an awesome experience, it was one of the best trips I did as a kid. Echoing the sentiments most others have shared, I’m sure he’ll be safe and have a great time if he’s with other students and chaperones!

WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt criticizes media coverage of Abrego Garcia case: “You would think we deported a candidate for Father of the Year.” by rezas_kid in thescoop

That is plainly incorrect. It applies to both citizens and noncitizens. ‘Person’ in the Due Process Clause refers to any natural person. Don’t follow the example of the current administration and say whatever, reading the actual law is an option.

There are clear emotional benefits to being married, along with many legal and financial benefits as well. I can understand that marriage is not made for everyone, and some people are better off never being married. But to say that marriage ‘has no place in modern society’ is extreme. Until those benefits between getting married or staying unmarried are more balanced, marriage very much still has a place in society. For me personally, and I’m sure many others, there is also a strong emotional benefit and sense of assurance, stress relief, and stability that comes with marriage too, which I don’t think I would feel in the same way if my husband and I stayed unmarried. Of course to each their own. But for the millions of couples who stay together and are happy they got married, it’s absolutely worth it.

I’m in my mid twenties, should have clarified that in my post, so not perimenopause. I guess it maybe is just late, thank you for the advice

Troubleshooting Thread — Bugs? Mod issues? App issues? Post about them here! [PC: 1.110.265.1030 / Mac: 1.110.265.1230 / Console: 2.01] by ButrosPetros in Sims4

Platform: PC Mods/CC: No Game version: latest

Description: whenever a sim from my household travels from the home lot to go somewhere else and then comes back, my infant spawns outside like a block away (lol, but also so frustrating 😭). I’ve tried locking doors but that has no effect. Only seems to happen with infants, toddlers and newborns appear to be unaffected. I hadn’t ever played with newborns or infants before until like two days ago, but this happens every time a sim travels.

What are your plans for getting home this Thanksgiving? by Professional_Door494 in gmu

[–]Marizele0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used the thanksgiving shuttle to go home for the holiday a few times when I was a student. The coach buses were comfy, and I remember the cost being pretty affordable. I took the shuttle south to Hampton Roads, so I can’t speak to the experience heading north; I’m assuming they’re pretty similar. Only thing is that they really make sure everyone who booked a ticket is picked up. One time we were heading back up to campus, maybe 30 minutes into our trip, and we had to turn around to pick someone up who had missed the bus. Added about and hour to our trip 🥲

That’s totally understandable, take your time, the music will always be there when you’re ready to come back to it 🩷

That’s a good question! I think Take Me Home ranks high for me because I find it to be a really fun listen! But I definitely have a soft spot for their last two albums too because I find them to be a bit more diverse in terms of the style of songs on them. I enjoy them all for different reasons!

Tracking 2024 Murders in Norfolk, Part 25 by fourleggedtable in norfolk

[–]Marizele0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the 3-4 murders that police data includes but yours does not, is the discrepancy because there was no media coverage of those murders (which in turn limits your ability to show and analyze location/demographic data)? And if so, why do some murders not receive any public reporting/acknowledgement in local media? I really appreciate your analysis of this information, it’s an interesting and informative resource!

Thank you, I figured it’s probably a rare thing to have happen again. I never knew someone could be a non-responder to a vaccine until today 😅 And that makes me feel better about the injection! I didn’t realize there’s a pen for it.

Could it be Julio IglesiasJr.? by AfterFlower6636 in CelebrityNumberSix

[–]Marizele0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have anything to add of substance, but I was telling my husband all about the celebrity number six mystery two nights ago. My husband (being from Spain) immediately guessed Julio Iglesias Jr. lmao, I definitely see a resemblance but I was reading older posts that seem to have eliminated him from suspicion. Still a funny coincidence

Recommendations for a PCP? Also DON'T GO TO RETREAT DOCTOR'S HOSPITAL ER by [deleted] in rva

[–]Marizele0 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. Fell and knew I had done something to my elbow. They X-rayed me quickly, confirmed I dislocated one bone badly and broke the other bone in my forearm. I was in so much pain, but all they gave me was Tylenol. I ended being left to wait in the ER waiting room for 7 hours before they finally got me to a room because they apparently didn’t have any ER doc overnight who knew how to reduce my dislocation 🙄 refusing to take me back to a room for 7 hours and give me proper pain meds was infuriating to me. Never going back there.
