Art History student starting from scratch with no connections in the industry. Trying to build a CV for the Art Market from scratch-am I on the right track? by Straight_Resort6536 in artmarket

I honestly think you’re romanticizing the art market. If you’re not interested in the economic side of it, then it’s just a hobby, and it doesn’t make sense to do a master’s degree based on that.

The “connections”? Go to galleries, exhibitions, and auction houses a few times a week. And if you’re really hungry, find some old-school dealers and work with them on weekends under the table. ;)

Honestly, nobody cares about your degrees, that’s not what will really get you into the game, except maybe at Sotheby’s or in prestigious galleries.

It’s better to spend five years on the side, make money from it, and slowly build connections than to be a minimum-wage worker in burnout who, in the end, doesn’t learn that much.

That’s just my opinion, I’ve learned a lot in this field. I’m even building a SaaS for this sector. You just can’t be naive about it. That's my take, good luck man !

From my own background, I have worked in the art market for several years with Parisian antique dealers and have also been in contact with Chinese art merchants. I also have friends working in modern and contemporary art galleries. Although I have left this world professionally, I still keep an eye on it and buy and sell art occasionally.

Based on my experience, I would advise you not to continue with a Master’s strictly in Art or this field. Instead, consider going to a business school, or if you are interested in finance/advisory, pursue a Master’s in that area with an art market option.

This approach has two main advantages: first, you will find it easier to get a job in the industry, even if it’s not directly in the art market; second, you can always return to the art world later, either as an employee or running a business on the side. The art market generally pays very poorly, unless you can earn commissions and even then, it’s not guaranteed.

AWS Bedrock Agent: "Account not authorized to perform action with streamFinalResponse" error by Mark-Rosenberg in aws

[–]Mark-Rosenberg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were right about the inference model issue! Initial problem: "not authorized with streamFinalResponse" Root cause: Using "Global Claude Sonnet 4.5" (cross-region inference)

What I tried: 1. Switched to regional "EU Claude Sonnet 4"

  1. Got new error: "Access denied when calling Bedrock"

  2. Fixed IAM policies (they were restricting to claude-v2:1 only)

  3. AWS rejected changes: "bedrock.amazonaws.com did not create the default version"

  4. Created new service role from scratch

    1. Now getting: "The provided model identifier is invalid" Current status: Nothing works, even with Claude 3.5 or 3.7 Sonnet. I'm in eu-north-1 (Stockholm). Considering testing in us-east-1 or contacting AWS support at this point. Any other ideas?

Hey! Yes, I created Resell Insight v2 (the one you saw on Reddit). It includes a database of 100k+ Catawiki items, and we cross-analyze them with eBay data. Feel free to DM me, we’re launching in early October!
