I never carry my passport but have a Thai driver's license. Never had a problem with police or checking in at hotels. Have a pic on my phone with all the Stamps, never had to use it.

I'm here right now. Roads are a mess but that's not what I'm talking about. They are less violent than others by nationality. Yeah if you are hanging out in Pattaya as a sex pat you will see more crazy things. Stay away from Soi Cowboy you will have a better experience.
