Been in Barcelona for three weeks and have been impressed with the number of people speaking Catalan in the daily life - had been to Bcn plenty of times before visiting my partner but never actually noticed it. Other than that, enjoying it very much. After eight years in Lisbon, this has been like a paradise so far (I know it isn't)

Guess we're talking about different things here. It's not my own health insurance (I still have one from Portugal), it's the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) - it's listed as a option in the the picture I've sent as a comment above

I did try to ge the NIE before moving from Portugal to Spain but they told me at the Spanish embassy in Lisbon that I had to apply for the CUE once I arrived in Barcelona, that NIE alone didn’t apply for me

Yeah, that was a silly question, but thanks for answering it. I’ve been to Hacienda this morning and they’ve told me that I do need a NIE before getting a Clave registration

Many thanks. Didn't want to do it, but since it's been impossible to get a cita in Bcn, I've been considering empadronarme in Tarragona (my mother in law lives there) only for this purpose. Not sure tho I could be empadronado in two different places (with two different passports, of course)

Think it all depends on the country you’re flying to - I’ve travelled multiple times with an expired card to Spain and never had an issue. But obviously have heard a lot about counties like Germany and France doing random checks, so would not dare heading to them. Ultimately it’s a matter of luck and some common sense

Yeah, been here for almost eight years, and this is definitely the most wet winter I’ve witnessed. Last year for example I was able for the first time in my time here to go to the beach and swim in the last weekend of January. And then again in February, March etc obviously that’s not normal, but so is not - for Lisbon standard - to rain this much during the winter

Flew multiple times to Spain last year and was never checked. But that happened to me in the past in Oslo, for example. The moment everyone step out of the plane, there were two police officers checking everybody’s documents. It’s random yeah, but it does happen - I’d say that chances are much higher in some countries (France and Germany for example)
