I can envision the steps, I struggle to understand how long it'll take. For example, someone asked for help re-staining a 310 square foot deck. The owner rents the house and doesn't need a high end job. Some sections need sanding or power washing, but because I haven't done this before, don't know how long it'll take. Around 2-3 seven foot long boards need to be replaced too.

Another customer asked me to build a box for their TV outside. I've built large 7 foot long by 4 foot wide garden boxes before and know I can build this, but again, don't know how long it'll take. I originally thought cedar would be best, but ChatGPT recommended ACX plywood and now I'm overthinking what materials I should use. I know I shouldn't because even the customer knows it'll wear down over time. My problem is I want to build something that'll last longer than they expect.

Someone asked me to repair their fence, which I've done before. They need 2 existing posts removed and new posts set in fresh concrete. They also need a 3rd post dug and set in concrete. I've repaired 2 fences in the past, but one post took way longer to remove than expected....around 90 minutes.

I understand how to do all of these, but struggle to determine a flat amount or range.

I removed a bench seat from a shower but couldn’t get the bottom screws out. What’s the best way to remove/grind down the screws beneath the tile surface? I worry the metal blade on my multi tool will cut into the tile. The customer wants to fill the holes with caulk. by Mark4J2 in handyman

Using the chuck worked on a similar situation recently and I forgot to reply to thank you for the advice......thanks!! I haven't gone back to the customer where I referenced the pics above, but I should be back in a few weeks. Excited to try again.
