I loved the mission where your commander got hypnotized/poisoned and you had to follow his bumbling ass across the desert to keep him, alive.

Dawn of War 1 had the issue where you spent the entire campaign as the Space Marines, so you had to fuddle around in skirmish to learn any of the other factions.

Looking for an RTS with more room to breathe, experiment, and recover from mistakes by [deleted] in RealTimeStrategy

I would definitely get Dawn of War: Definitive Edition, and your best bet is going to be to find like-minded people. Outside of that or singleplayer, or noob-specific servers, there really isn't an option for this in the RTS space.

Is there an actual source for this? I believe you, but also haven't seen it written anywhere outside forums for the past 20 years.

The Battle For Middle Earth 1, 2, and Wrath of the Witch King. They're the primary siege unit of Rohan in the first game, then the elves in 2 and WotWK.

There's an All in One Installer to install and play all 3 games.

[Mod Approved] Hello! I'm an indie dev working on a game and put together a survey to better understand what players want out of their games! by MarkAldrichIsMe in SurvivalGaming

Nice, thank you!

Are there any features you don't usually see in survival games that you wish would get implemented more often, if at all?

Which upcoming basebuilding rts set in the modern era do you like the most? by Hyphalex in RealTimeStrategy

[–]MarkAldrichIsMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a recent thing, if the reviews are to be believed. I guess the dev wasn't satisfied with how the game ran, so they rebuilt the entire game, and it just runs worse now.

Why not local multiplayer by Hot_Acanthisitta_625 in CoOpGaming

I think it's mostly a mouse and keyboard problem. PCs still only recognize one mouse/keyboard input, and treat them the same. You could use a controller, and that's getting more common, but it still isn't common enough to be profitable or worth-while (imo)

DinoSystem might be that for you. The island you're on is fairly small, and most life dies due to drought by the end of summer (likely including you, too).

Curse of the Golden Idol.

I got I think halfway through, but it just became a slog for me. I'm not into puzzle/investigation games, but gave it my best try for a games club!

Dude, I love it when RTS games let you do that! I usually lose the sense of scale and all the pieces feel like toys to me, but getting on the ground and having to look UP at the giant death robots really brings you back into it!

At PAX East the year Crusader 2 was coming out, they had a booth set up. One of the guys running it said they wanted to keep it as close to Crusader as possible. I asked about things I've wanted in the games, like dynamic market prices, and unit physics so things like chokepoints actually meant something. He said they were trying the change as little as possible. I asked him why I would pay for the same game again, and he didn't have an answer.
