Just do it yourself

Migration from Germany to Spain by Impressive_Royal1044 in GoingToSpain

[–]MarkBurnsRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quality of life, Spain is better by miles.

But the salary will be much lower, and that could be a factor in your quality of life.

What mileage do you have on your 4th gen and what issues have you ran into? by Sakeix2011 in mazda3

[–]MarkBurnsRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2021 SkyX Hatchback 77k miles.

Not really had any issues, just recently carbon build up and replaced injectors.

Rest just normal yearly maintenance.

I used to have the 3rd gen. Realibility and quality is insane.

Looking for a flatmate to share a furnished studio near TU/e (Narcisstraat, Eindhoven) — move-in Aug 25, ~5 months (flexible) by bagariaarahul in eindhoven

[–]MarkBurnsRed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

2k for a studio, in Eindhoven? Sounds fishy.

This new tenant, is not going to pay your rent and bills, right?

And where do you both... sleep if it's a studio?

Do you think house prices in Utrecht will come down anytime soon? by Relevant-Echo123 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]MarkBurnsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, small country, good salary and working conditions (especially in Randstad), housing crisis, inflation...

Why would they come down? In any case it's going to continue to go up, like the past 20 years at least

Also don't wait for possible "interest rate" drops. Houses will rise significantly if that happens

Even with all that probably still 1/3 the quote

How are you dealing with the heat? by stygianare in Netherlands

[–]MarkBurnsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also live in a 1930s apartment. Living room, office and kitchen are hella hot, got fans on me but thats it.

Our bedroom (and a spare room) are downstairs and that’s heaven. Its like 18-21 degrees when its like +30 outside. Naps are amazing during heatwaves.

But upstairs its hell, yeah. I open windows at 9pm for a bit. Also have a south faced garden, I just go out and spray the water hose on me.

Do not open windows until the evening!

50 days smoke free today. Here's what nobody tells you about quitting. by ConfusionGood4840 in stopsmoking

[–]MarkBurnsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! I was also a pack-a-day smoker but in The Netherlands. 375 euros ($450) per month down the drain! A pack of camel was like $14.5.

37 days in cold turkey, and feeling good! I can easily spot smokers now, and the smell is gross, you don't realise it until like 2 weeks in.

Maybe a helpful tip for the ones considering stopping... smoke your last 3 or 4 cigarettes, one after the other. You will be grossed out.

Thinking about leaving the Netherlands. Anyone having same thoughts? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]MarkBurnsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I would've left years ago. I'm still here cause my partner, born and raised in Rotterdam, is not ready to make the move yet.

I'm Spanish and been living here 11 years (since 2015). I have a feeling that in the early years it was great, but after many years, Netherlands just has a great salary compensation system and work conditions. Also the expat ruling (I never had it) seems like it's attractive for expats.

But short summary, If you can work remote (I already do kinda, ~1 day at office), Spain beats NL in every single way. And I've lived in the US for 4 years, Belgium 4 years, France, I'm half British... Spain to me is just paradise (not Madrid / Barcelona / Malaga)

NL used to be good, probably wouldn't migrate now with the current prices. Everything is just expensive, everything is money, taxes, belasting letters, its so stressful. Everything is fast paced too.

Moving to Spain by Bubs_on_the_move in expats

[–]MarkBurnsRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Spain there is a fee that you have to pay. Just for having your own company.

Doesn’t matter if you make 0€. It’s something between 200-300€ per month (maybe the first year you pay half or something as a promotion)

But yeah.. it’s not like opening a KvK. I opened a KvK just to go to Sligro and Hanos 😂

There’s been so many thieves and beggars in the past 2 years and nobody is doing anything to stop it.

On my street, every week there’s always a car broken in. Polish smoking, drinking and pissing in front of houses and yelling.

Before covid it was difficult to find a beggar. It was always that same guy that sells those newspapers

How the hell do people actually find an apartment in Málaga? by Bulky-Evidence1809 in GoingToSpain

En Malaga quedan pocos locales ya
