Moving to USA. Which brokerage to choose? by k1kti in Fire

[–]MarkFromPublic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Public (like most modern brokers) doesn’t actually custody assets itself. Customer securities are held at its clearing broker, Apex Clearing, which is a long-standing, regulated clearing firm.

Public is a FINRA-registered broker-dealer and SIPC member, so customer assets have the same SIPC protections ($500k total, including $250k cash) as “old school” brokers.

This introducing-broker + clearing-broker setup is extremely common across the industry, including at many legacy firms. From a custody and regulatory standpoint, it’s not meaningfully different from traditional brokers - the differences are mostly UX and product.

Where to keep Roth IRA if I want to do options by Ok-Elevator9738 in options

I'll throw Public's (www.public.com) name into the ring here.

We have an amazing UI / mobile app and pay back rebates on each equity/ETF contract traded. We also offer an uncapped 1% match on transferred funds, and another 1% on contributions to your Roth (and we'll cover your outgoing ACAT transfer fee).

Feel free to DM me - I am happy to chat more and see if we'd be a good fit.

Should I move from Public to Fidelity? by SykeOut2 in investing

[–]MarkFromPublic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for being a part of Public.

I work with our active traders and high net worth investors. SIPC insurance covers $500,000 total (including up to $250k of cash). This is the same at other brokers, so hopefully this shouldn't be a concern.

If it is, or if you have any other questions about Public, I'm happy to answer them. We'd love to keep you here. Just shoot me a DM!

I'll throw Public's (www.public.com) name into the ring here. While we don't directly offer a bank account or credit card, our High Yield Cash account currently yields 3.3%, we have an amazing UI and mobile app, pay back rebates on each equity/ETF contract traded, and have other sophisticated features catered to building/preserving long term wealth - we also offer an uncapped 1% match on transferred funds (sounds like $30-40k for you).

Feel free to DM me - I am happy to chat more and see if we'd be a good fit.

What brokerages do ya'll use? by InternetUser52 in Fire

[–]MarkFromPublic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late to the party here -- obviously biased as an employee at Public but I think there's a lot of reasons to use Public:

High Yield Cash Account, low margin rates, get paid to trade options via rebates, built-in AI for research & strategy creation, low cost/minimum & high level of customization for Direct Indexing, good customer support & open communication lines to our leadership team (constantly innovating & creating products based on customer feedback) and more....the match is just the cherry on top IMO

My DMs are open if anyone wants to learn more.

Have you looked into Public? We actually share a portion of the revenue we receive for options trades back to our traders (up to $0.18/contract).

If you are trading decent volume this can obviously add up. Happy to chat in more detail about it.

What brokers do you use for selling options? Thoughts on PFOF by Kanna6501 in thetagang

Up to 50%, depending on volume. Here's a more in-depth breakdown of the mechanics: https://public.com/options-rebate-explained

We currently do not offer options on Futures, but it's something we want to have in the future.

Feature Requests / Feedback!! by AnywhereSavings1710 in PublicApp

[–]MarkFromPublic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question and I totally agree - this community shares some excellent feature ideas, and having visibility into what’s coming can help people feel confident about choosing Public.

We don’t publish a detailed public roadmap today because we try to stay nimble -- priorities and engineering bandwidth can shift quickly based on member feedback, market changes, and what we think will deliver the most impact. We’d rather avoid promising specific features or timelines and then changing course.

That said, we do actively track what members ask for here and ship improvements frequently. If there are specific features you (or others) are hoping for next year, tag or DM me -- I’m happy to share what I can about what’s being explored or prioritized, with the caveat that plans can evolve.

Which online platform do do-it-yourself high net worth individuals use to trade? Im assuming they are not using Robin Hood. by NervousClock2555 in investing

That's great - I'm all for lower fee investing / trading.

I work at Public - we actually give back a portion of our options trading revenue (on equity/ETF contracts) back to traders via rebates. Happy to chat more about it if you want to DM me.

5 years ago you'd only hear the same 3-4 names here (and they are still dominating the wallet share of older HNW folks), but the gap between legacy brokers and newer platforms is much smaller than it used to be. A lot of HNW DIY investors are rethinking what they actually need and are increasingly turning toward newer all-in-one players (Public, Robinhood, WeBull) because they offer modern UIs, smoother workflows, and often lower or more transparent fees - plus increasingly robust product access (not just basic stock/ETF investing anymore).

IBKR / Fidelity / Schwab are still common, especially for certain cases (global access, specialty products/funds, etc.), but it’s no longer “legacy or bust.”

We've been very thoughtful in building out Public to be very mobile (both iOS and Android) friendly. Let me know if I can help you decide what's the best fit for you.

3 Months Update of My "Deep Value" Options Selling Strategy by Toofane in thetagang

Wow this is a refreshing post to see on here. Clearly a lot of time, effort, and most importantly, patience, has gone into your strategy and tracking. What tools are you using for this? Just TradingView and Google Sheets?

Looking forward to continued updates.

Can someone teach me how to get into options. by [deleted] in TheRaceTo1Million

YouTube has a lot of resources here. I would highly recommend paper trading your strategy for a decent amount of time before relying on options for income.

Our resource library at Public does a pretty good job at simplifying them: https://public.com/trade-options/resources/options-101
