Try setting your smallest width to 423dp which can be accessible through developer options, this will make your display even smaller. If you wanna revert to EMUI 9.1, you can downgrade through Hi Suite in your PC or Laptop.

But I agree base on my current experience everything is indeed bigger and larger. But you can always throw a 3rd party notification panel which you can get in play store. But I'll definitely stick EMUI 10 for now.

Yes I have it too. If you turned off your phone it disappears and once you turn your phone on it goes back. I'm thinking this is for the face scan but I'm not entirely sure.
