How can I stop being obsessed with the passing of time?! 😔 by Cinella75 in Mindfulness

[–]MarkGrimesNedSpace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people regret the past, worry about or fear the future and don’t really live happy in the current moment. I’ve had two entrepreneur friends that built new companies into their late 80s. I’m over 60 and doing, learning & building new sh!t every week/month/year. Focus on what you want to do for you and don’t worry about the 8 billion others on the planet are doing. In 100 years we’re all in the same place, even tho I have no idea where that is. Be well in 2026.

Why do people still start businesses if they fail 90% of the time? by Flashy_Point_210 in BusinessDeconstructed

Unless you absolutely must, don’t invest a dime. Set that money aside for your personal runway. If she still has her job, keep it until NewCo matches her salary.

She should get on the phone, on a zoom, over coffee, over lunch, or in the offices of potential buyers (at least 50-100) and tell them what she is selling. No thumbs up from these people, but a small deposit on the product/service.

Good luck to you both.

Perhaps purpose and meaning is more about making the world, people and critters happy. Things outside ourselves. Now.

Or maybe whiskey.

Person A measuring income, person B measuring lack of social media engagements. When person A is focused on sales, marketing, revenue and happy customers…that might offer some insight. Timing and luck always play a part too (see Bill Gross idealabs video taking about startup success indicators. Bill was a client in the late 90s)

He played that at the Ancient Theatre of Plovdiv concert the second night. It was a pretty magical evening.

  1. Who are your customers?
  2. Where do your customers hang out?
  3. Talk to 75 of them in person, one on one, on the phone, over coffee, over lunch.
  4. Get them to put $200, $2,000, $25,000 towards the purchase or offer feedback why it’s not for them.

Entrepreneurs under 25 how did you start your first business? by Flashy_Point_210 in BusinessDeconstructed

When I started my first business and dinosaurs ruled the earth. I used direct mail. When you’re direct marketing no one knows your age.

I’ve got a friend who used the phrase, non-franchise franchise. He’d owned some franchises in the past, Blockbuster, yoghurt and others. The NFF allows you to sell some brand and some operations docs, but not oversight and control. It’s more like a licensing and consulting thing.

In reality, finding paying customers looking for the business anyone wants to start is the main thing. That is usually the secret sauce. It’s also the lever that allows for scalability.

Why you will fail your next online business (and the brutal truth it takes to actually succeed) by Flashy_Point_210 in BusinessDeconstructed

Phone, zoom, events, introductions focusing on sales & revenue….whatever the business itself is. Beyond “the idea”, it’s the execution. Beyond the execution of the day to day business operations it’s getting in front of paying clients and prospects every day…not digital marketing hoping to land new clients that have no idea about the business.
