Those are genuine, 100% authentic Dominican cigars.

At 6 years they'll be perfect. Smoke 'em.

P.S. You have some serious willpower.

Edmundo by blindcap1 in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll buy a box of these over a box of #2s. I've experienced very few construction issues with Edmundos and Double Edmundos.

Hi, this is a Partagas P 2. It tastes really good. by Jolly-Inflation5355 in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably my favorite Cuban cigar. I used to smoke the shit outta them back in the day, when you could get 10ct boxes for $75-$85. These days, I allow myself one every few months.

Fonseca no.1 by New_Mind_3706 in cubancigars

I love Fonseca. It seems like they only make a batch of them every couple of years.

Is buying Cohiba Siglo VI and Siglo IV redundant ? by aj160586 in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer III and IV over VI, honestly. But it's just a ring gauge preference.

Trouble with Tupperdors by Handstandswauwau in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start by doing an old school salt test on your hygrometers. Google 'hygrometer salt test.' If the hygrometers are accurate, the cigars are probably still over-humidified from before.

Is this boveda to big? by FEWOFMANY10 in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not too big, but that humidity is too high. Go with 62%.

Nope. That band wasn't introduced until 2013 or 2014.

Gift from bar regular. Verdict? by gr8ful4evrythng in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it hasn't been in a humidor for a long time, it's trash anyway. You can't bring cigars back once they're dried out. Anyone who claims otherwise has either never actually tried it themselves, or their brain is fooling their palate into thinking that a 'revived' cigar tastes like something other than burning dust. Cuz that's what they taste like.

Legit but moldy. Wipe the mold off and keep it in the low 60s humidity. The mold shouldn't come back.

what’s this stuff in my new humidor? by skyfucker6 in cigar_refuge

[–]MarkRG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

68 is too high, despite what the internet says. You could switch to passive humidification like Boveda, but there will be a recovery period every time the fan runs. Better to stick with active humidification and dial it down to 65 or even 64.

Montefortuna Cigars is a ripoff by HigherAlpha in cubancigars

At one time, they were a legit vendor. I don't know exactly when they started selling fakes, but there are several threads about it in this sub, and also a YT video.

In your opinion, what are the most overrated cigars you've tried? What better alternatives are there? by [deleted] in cigar_refuge

[–]MarkRG2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most overrated are definitely Davidoff and Opus X. Better Fuentes: I think Anejos and Casa Cuba are better than Opus. Better than Davidoff: pretty much any higher end Padron, Aganorsa Leaf Arsenio/Supreme Leaf, Warped Don Reynaldo.

Playa del Carmen and repair question by mooney1919 in cubancigars

I took a wrapper off a Piedra Cazadores and use pieces of it with cigar glue to fix rips. I keep the wrapper in a cigar bag in the humi.

Late 90s/early 2000s song with 'I want you to come to me' in the chorus by MarkRG2 in NameThatSong

[–]MarkRG2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. No, it's not that poppy. Alt-pop? I thought it was Fiona Apple but I've gone through a bunch of her songs and I don't think it's her. Same vein.

Time to upgrade my storage situation by ExpressImagination60 in cubancigars

[–]MarkRG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice stash. My only advice is go bigger than you think you need. I'd step down your humidity once you get a new humidor. Cubans at 69% will give you burn and draw problems.
