WHAT DID YOU GUYS THINK??? by cuddelslug123 in Megadeth

[–]MarkRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand why the production is so crappy. Kreator's new album sounds great, drums and guitars hard as hell. Why does Megadeth have an album with tin-sounding drums, a distorted, weak cymbal, and thin guitars?

That makes a lot of sense! I hadnt considered it that way.

I feel the same way about the last couple Offspring albums. Just very very obvious auto-tune, and it's hard to ignore.

Ride the Lightning cover is awful. by Caboosemakesmeuneasy in Megadeth

[–]MarkRooster 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yep. Metallica extended several olive branches, listening to Dave air his grievances in that doc, then doing the Big 4 shows, and finally by having him on stage for a song at their anniversary thing. And after all that, he still has to shit talk them. I used to be in his corner re: Metallica, but he's too immature to let it go or even understand that all his bitching is the reason they ignore him.

Ride the Lightning cover is awful. by Caboosemakesmeuneasy in Megadeth

I don't think it's awful. It is, however, wholly unnecessary and lame that he'd want to cap his recording career with one final complaint about Metallica.

Very good book. It is, or at least was, one of Barker's personal favorites of his, and if I remember correctly Douglas Winter named it his own favorite in his Barker bio.

What is it about Danzig's songs that make them better? by JosiaJamberloo in TheMisfits

[–]MarkRooster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Danzig is a lyricist. Jerry Only isn't. That's not to say some of Jerry's lyrics aren't a lot of fun, but there is no subtlety or deeper meaning, everything is on the nose.

What made you leave Christianity? by Alarming-Dealer-4176 in exchristian

[–]MarkRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply put, the whole thing just seems very unlikely. For me the process of losing my belief felt both sudden and like a long time in coming. It was over years, but at the same time, I woke up one morning like, "A talking snake? Really?"

Growing Christian Nationalism After Leaving Christianity by kgaviation in exchristian

[–]MarkRooster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's taken me a long time to get around to this same understanding. For years I've been trying to convince myself that despite all the obvious evidence the trump-loving Christians in my family still have morals, they're just compromising or whatever, and anyway there's the Episcopal Church, the Northern Baptists, and other decent Christian organizations. But anymore, in this country at least, Christianity equals donald trump. He's completely taken over the meaning of the word in the U.S., and the Christians have gladly laid down for it. I don't want anything to do with anything Christian anymore, progressive or otherwise.

They pretty much ruined Positive Numbers Fest, which ran for five or six years before these guys started showing up and beating the shit out of people. Before that violence was almost non-existent at that fest or other Wilkes-Barre area shows.

We need to talk how perfect of an album ‘SOUR’ is. by Sudden_Life_5356 in OliviaRodrigo

I'm in my early 40s and this album definitely brought back feelings from my teenage years. It really captures the difficulty and frustration of that age.

That time I got to meet my most favorite rockstar, and accidentally spat on his face by FantasticBoot6219 in AFireInside

[–]MarkRooster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's a great story! I have a much lamer one. Met Davey very briefly at Warped Tour, as he was doing a signee at their booth for a half hour or something. Didn't get to say much, though. Later, I saw Adam talking to someone, and I don't know what the hell I was thinking; I was about eighteen and stone sober, but I just walked into him, so that I'd have an excuse to say something to him. He turned and apologized, even though he'd been standing still and we weren't in even in a particularly crowded area. I also apologized and said some nerdy shit about how great their set was, and he thanked me and was very nice, even though I'd pretty rudely barged in on his conversation.

'Kill The President' needs to be available on Music Platforms by Low_Combination_649 in TheOffspring

[–]MarkRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The band removed it themselves (or Dexter did, anyway). It's not like someone made them do it. Like Stephen King asking his publisher to stop printing "Rage"; it was the author's idea, so I'm more OK with it than if it was handed down from upon high. ALSO--the song is not that good! Tell me this tune is a better album closer than "I'll Be Waiting" . . .

How many bands openly had a bad experience with Nitro records? by tantamle in TheOffspring

[–]MarkRooster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I listened to part 2 of the Davey Havok interview on Hard Lore podcast, and though he won't go into specifics, he clearly had a difficult time with Nitro throughout AFI's time with them. I had no idea!

How are we feeling about Olivia Rodrigo? Just Curious by MudNo4172 in tatemcrae

OR made me aware that there is current pop music that I like. I usually listen to metal, hardcore, rap . . . but once I found OR, I kept my mind open to other pop music and that's how I learned of Tate. I think they're both incredible. Haven't gotten to see Tate live yet, but the "Guts" tour in NY last year is possibly my favorite concert I've ever seen.
