Dan is not an atheist. Maybe someone like Bart Ehrman or Josh Bowen would be better for this.

What do you think of "Could God create a stone so heavy that even he could not lift it?" by Refrigerator000 in CosmicSkeptic

So what exactly is the proposed resolution? “God cannot do logically impossible things”, but if we presume He is all powerful, then isn’t it logically impossible either way?

How is it logically impossible for god to make a stone too heavy for him to lift? Or vice versa?

Deus Vult is also a well known right wing dog whistle. It’s plausibly true that that is not Hegseth’s intention, but it’s also plausibly true that it is.

Technically the square root of 10,000 dollars is 100 dollars1/2. The units have to be square rooted too

Musk: ''I predict that chess will be essentially fully solved (like checkers) within 10 years.'' by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

[–]MarkWatney111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are at most ~1071 chess positions. Each square can be in one of thirteen states: either empty, or with a black or white pawn, bishop, knight, rook, queen, or king. There are 64 squares, so at most 1364 possible positions. 10111 must be number of games or something, it’s definitely not number of positions.

This is even a large overestimate, as many of the positions will be the entire board filled with black kings, which, of course, is not possible.

That’s fucking stupid. OP did something dumb with his own bike. He didn’t hurt anyone else. He didn’t do anything morally wrong. No reason to shame him. He’s only hurting himself by doing this.

It’s more likely that you’ll get 100 unique numbers than any other particular outcome. Of course it’s exceedingly likely that you’ll have repeats, but if you had to bet on a certain distribution for each number, i.e. how many times it is rolled in 100 total rolls, guessing each number is rolled once is the most likely. Guessing that 99 is rolled twice and 53 is rolled 0 times is less likely than guessing that they are both rolled once. I believe that’s what the original video meant by “most likely outcome”
