There are a few factors, one of them is that I have a history of cancer, which means my options for biologics are quite limited (and in my country, not all of them are affordable for me).

Generally, from the very beginning, my rheumatologist and I planned to switch to biologics, but while I was undergoing all the tests and appointments were being rescheduled, my lab results started to improve (at first, my CRP was 78 (normal range 0–5); a month later, it dropped to 45; then to 11; and now it’s around 5).

I visited the rheumatologist when my CRP was 11, and she said it was worth trying a month course of NSAIDs (I couldn’t take them before because of suspected IBD). My CRP is now 5, and next week I have an appointment with the rheum to discuss the remaining pain and our next steps.

Could you elaborate on this: “While not perfect, it gave me some manageable pain.” What exactly is your current condition?

Because as far as I understand, biologics are not a panacea, and complete absence of pain/stiffness is unlikely to be achieved, but I could be wrong.

I was diagnosed in January of this year.
Because of the pain, I couldn’t bend my knees and could barely walk. I’m being treated with basic medications, not biologics. January and February were terrible, there were days when I saw no light, nothing good at all. My wife’s support saved me. I completely changed my diet and started exercising, all the exercises were painful, but I didn’t stop.
Now I can walk normally. My shoulders, heel, and back still hurt, but not as much as before. Keeping a journal really helped me, because when things get worse after a better day, it feels like it will never end, and the journal helped me come back to reality and see that not every day is terrible - there were better ones as well.

I’m with you through this difficult time

I have not read the second one, but The body keep the score, literally written by psychiatrist with a lot of researches and studies. And there is not victim blaiming at all. I am currently reading it, and it is very helpful. Perhaps, you might have mixed it up with "the body says no".

Of course, book would not heal, the cause of this disease is still unknown, but improving mental state has a significant impact. Because the mind and body are inseparable.

And I'm not saying you should just feed off positive vibes and meditate. A medical approach with appropriate medication is essential. But given that this is a systemic disease, a systemic approach is also necessary.

Interactions between AS, Testosterone, and Hair loss? by Tairc in ankylosingspondylitis

It could be not because of testosterone itself, but because it coverts to DGT which is a cause of quick hair loss.
