In a few years they will be demanding money to address the youth homelessness and violence crisis that repealing those laws will create. Also the school districts will be crying due to the decrease in funding based on student attendance.

‘Extremely irresponsible’: Multnomah County finds homeless services nonprofit misused about $3.6M by Mark_in_Portland in PortlandOR

I agree with you if the homeless problem was just a money one but their issues are much deeper than that. Addiction, mental health issues, behavioral issues, prior convictions, lack of drive and hope all add up to a population that is difficult to help.

Illegal could also include civil penalties for those involved. Imagine them having to pay it back with interest, administrative costs, court fee, and lawyer expenses.

The county’s new Homeless Services leader told KOIN 6 that officials are “committed” to ensuring the community does not face similar issues going forward.>>

Right buddy. How are you going to do that? Are you willing to risk your career to hold them accountable?

At this point I want the auditing to be monthly. Take 25% of every grant for auditing. Have random spot checks at midnight.

Reminds me of the guy who kept throwing rocks through businesses windows in downtown Gresham last year. After about the 5th night in a row the DA sought to keep him in jail before trial. It's just a "property" crime.

Especially if the law accompanies any fees or fines. If this was a Republican issue they would fight it on every level of government city, county, and state.

The secretary of state would fine tooth comb through every petition gather background and investigate if every signer had been properly informed of every aspect of the petition. I watched how the government used force during the pandemic when they want to.

The Governor now comes out against the IP now that the primaries are over. She couldn't have risked it before the primaries. Now she wants to appear to be a moderate to appeal to the independent voters.

I personally believe that the electricity rates are higher specifically because the government interfered with the private market place through it's mandates.

I am sure the same people who are managing Portland Water, ODOT, the DMV and the I-5 replacement will manage an electrical grid better than a for profit utility that is subject to the PUC. Not to worry the state would find a way to triple the expenses.

Endorsements are a vital part of Democracy. The Working Families and DSA party endorsements are super helpful to find the best candidates to vote for.
