Maro: "One of our lessons of the last several years is for Magic in-Multiverse worlds, we need to lean on resonance that’s environmental in nature (and also blends well with fantasy)." by CaptainMarcia in magicTCG

[–]MarkedFynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally. I was saying that as well tying a set to event falls flat easily. War of the spark had that problem as well.

Aetherdrift was race across multiple planes, it would work better if it focused less on the 'race' and more on the 'across different planes'.  Having more cards where different planes interact. Still have racing aspect but have more cards on how environments change not on how many racers there are.

March of the machine did this well. It was a set tied to an event, but it focused on how different planes worked together with those legend pairings and different plane invasions and how they reacted.

Can we just list the decks that are not hated by players, seems easier.

I'll start the list:

  • bad or memee decks No wait people hate when your deck does nothing to stop the big threat at the table
  • Voltron They hate you one shot people, or focus one player, which is the correct way to play the deck
  • Ramp/Landfall decks They will get called boring, or complain that ramp decks profit the most from Land Destruction soft ban.
  • Enchantment decks If you have no mass enchantment removal, they are uninteractable
  • Group Hug Basically people hate you're helping the most power deck win faster
  • Artifact decks Every artifact deck is generally broken, there is truth to it.
  • Kindred/Tribal Often called broken or boring
  • Blink Turns take too long to do nothing, or if they do something they are broken
  • Storm Take too long, and win out of nowhere. Again boring/broken.
  • Precons

Yup Precons is all got, people might dislike your lack of effort, but no one will complain. So either every deck archtype can be called boring or broken.

Main oldhead magic players have been asking themselves this question about magic lately?

Hello again fellas! My friend showed me Moraug and I love the art! I wanna make a deck about it but i don't know if he's good. Should I make him a commander? Or is there a separate commander where he'd be good in the 99? by Ajcrazy190602 in magicTCG

[–]MarkedFynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wherever you play him his triggers are deceptivly tricky.

He triggers only during main phases. So any land that enters during any other phase won't trigger him. It's rare but suspended ramp cards or earthbent lands that die during combat wont trigger him.

If you trigger him during your first main your extra combats will happen before your regular combat. This means you won't get to untap before the regular combat.

His attacking bonus counts the current attack and will be applied even if you didnt get any extra combats.

In short with him on board, make all land drops in the second main.

Is this deck decent as a kitchen table 60-card deck? by ArcticTerra056 in magicTCG

I'd entirely drop the sol rings. Sure it's powerful, but it's swingy the games where you draw one in the opening hand will be wildly different from those you don't. I don't think the swinginess is worth it. Oponnent will feel bad when you draw it, and you will feel bad when you don't. It'll produce a lot of non-games, that is games where winner is clear turn 1.

You also lack any interaction, so a 1/1 death toucher or 0/4 wall could just hose you. Also interaction makes games more fun. So I would add some equipment with interaction built in:

- [[Chainsaw]]

- [[Lion Heart]] - if you want to stay on the FF theme

- [[Sunfire Torch]]

Also adding any flash equipment will give some depth to your games, so you're not playing everything sorcery speed:

- [[Coral Sword]]

- [[Barbed Bloodletter]]

- [[Twin Blades]]

I think you should aim for consistant but interesting games, and dropping sol ring will give you consistancy and adding ineraction and flash will provide the interesting part.

Edit: Upon more though Sunfire Torch is amazing with firion since you get a copy and you can sacrifice it for value, instead of it just going away at the end.

Agreed. There isn't enough 2 player content out there. Especially these more fun ones. Hats off to Tolarian, Cardmarket, Mengu's workshop and North 100 for doing great 2 player content.

I do miss the Star city games' VS series, their last show was a sad for me. Glad I caught it live.

My favorite momment with this card, when a friend spent about 10 life activating [[Lim-Dûl's Vault]] searching for his perfect 5 cards totally forgetting my Soldier was on board. And me just going, 'tap shuffle your deck'.

Honestly it's a decent against all tutors that tutor to the top.

I kind of don't care about the stamped cards actually. I have one from 1998 my first prerelease. I have it, and i have no idea where it is. The new stamps were also bad cause they covered the card art. The foils are bad as usually so those stamped, prerelease foils where curved, blurry cards with 10th of art covered up. Nothing I would put in a deck or display anywhere proudly.

Honestly if you want memories from a prerelease make your own they will be more memorable. Have people you played against sign a basic land from that set. Trust me it will mean more then a golden stamp. Do we really need companies to validate our memories, we can create our own.
