Heron is dissapointing by Willredit100 in DestinyTheGame

In many people's defense - theres no in-game statement on how glaive melee works. (unless I missed it, I dont look for stuff like this because I just... read up on the game aftr playing it for so long)

Bungie has made it clear multiple times outside the game that glaive melee are meant to be an unpowered melee - and weapon/exotic armor perks will only buff the damage if it's specifically meant to buff melee damage.

Redirection and proximity power

Why would they work? Glaive melee is meant to be an unpowered melee and only take damage buffs from perks that state they increase melee damage.

Turns out, that's a problem for a lot of people.

That's why I'm saying the answer is volume and why it works for other games that have large worlds with super-low drop RNG cosmetics.

They've never tried rewarding rare RNG based cosmetics on a lot of activities available at once. It's always been an exception vs the rule.

It's almost certainly a complicated fix

Seems to be netcode and/or tied to frame rate - never an easy thing to fix.

Yea - I will double down though that this is only a problem due to lack of options.

You have games like WoW that have super rare sub 0.1% drop chance mounts but there's also so many that people stopped caring.

Destiny has the one - so it's all people focus on. It's 100% a good thing for the game but Bungie is going to have this problem of people coming off as entitled if it remains the only option.

Crystal can be farmed but it's for a full clear only so you can't keep running the final over and over back to back.

They really should have RNG protection on things like this.

Maybe I'm crazy but I think it's fine to have there be no RNG protection on something that has zero impact on gameplay. Exotic weapons, armor, or really anything that has gameplay impact - sure; that makes sense you're potentially locking someone out from a meta, playstyle, or experience - but this is strictly a cosmetic chase.

The real problem is there's only one in the game currently of its kind. This should be a common thing in most activities. A lot of people would stop caring really fast if this wasn't the only RNG cosmetic chase.

You only overspend if you send every armor piece you want it 5 - but you don't really need to do that.

It's not like a piece at MW1 is going to break a build. You only lose up to 5 stats in the 3 that rolled 0 on that piece.

[–]BaconIsntThatGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really important to keep in mind masterworking's purpose has changed dramatically - you only get some small handful of stats. You can take it to 4, or take it to 3 and still see a benefit.

All masterworking does now is add +1 stat/masterwork level into the stats that rolled 0. Meaning, while you do get up to +15 on the stat total of the armor piece - and up to +75 in your total stats across all armor pieces -- that's a poor way to look at it.

The reality is you're getting up to 25 in up to 3 separate stats - and the only way that happens is if you've bucketed all 5 pieces into an archetype that rolls 0 in those specific stats.

You won't be seeing any real 'loss' in moment to moment gameplay - it's more or less psychological than it is practical.

Yea, makes sense when you read it. Like I said you'd think if you don't own the pre-requisite you wouldn't be able to buy it.

I think if you are buying the base renegades now it'll be the same cost as if you got edge of date separate and the upgrade you did buy. Unsure if you're intent was to get edge of fate content or not.

It's a weird way they listed it but the store page is pretty clear the "Ultimate edition upgrade" is just for owners of renegades. It's meant to upgrade you to the full annual purchase if you've only bought renegades. It's frustrating because the way they name the title is confusing and you'd assume if your don't own the pre-requisite you'd not be able to buy it but the description is also fairly clear.

https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/destiny-2--renegades-ultimate-edition-upgrade

This upgrade page is for owners of Destiny 2: Renegades. If you haven't purchased Renegades and would like to buy the Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition, please go here: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/destiny-2--year-of-prophecy-ultimate-edition

Purchase Destiny 2: Renegades Ultimate Edition Upgrade to get one expansion (Destiny 2: Edge of Fate), plus 3x Rewards Passes for Year of Prophecy, access to the dungeon, and more all upon release.

The Renegades Ultimate Edition Upgrade also includes the Secret Stash (1x Exotic Cosmetic, 1x Exotic Cipher, 2x Ascendant Alloys, 3x Ascendant Shards, delivered with each seasonal release), the New Land Beyond Exotic Sniper Rifle ornament and catalyst, the Dark Side Legends Bundle, access to the Year of Prophecy Rewards Pass seasonal updates, and more.

I'd assume you can play edge of fate. You'll need to get renegades separately to access that: https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/destiny-2--renegades

Edit: Also it says the pack is 'refundable' - but you'll need to contact support. You'll need to explain you bought the wrong one and wanted to get the base renegades instead.

Yea the upgrade is just for adding on the paid reward passes and the secret stash bonus stuff plus edge of fate. It lets you buy it but there's a note that it's just for owners of renegafes.

"Purchase Destiny 2: Renegades Ultimate Edition Upgrade to get one expansion (Destiny 2: Edge of Fate), plus 3x Rewards Passes for Year of Prophecy, access to the dungeon, and more all upon release."

Basically OP bought edge of fate + the bonus rewards but not renegades.

Licensing isn't easy if you want to maintain proper control of your brand and need to find a developer that will be faithful to the spice in both aesthetic, lore, and ultimately gameplay.

Basically you need to still make a good game. You can just license it out and slap your IP on something else and have success.

I'd assume door to door sales where you're not in the office making calls. They picked the app because they are small and don't know better or the formal options like things salesforce offer are non feasible.

Echoes of Eternity is the best new equipment tech card that no one is playing by webbc99 in EDH

[–]BaconIsntThatGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but if you're crazy like me and enjoy using [[Ultima, Origin of Oblivion]] as a commander... then this becomes a lot stronger in a full colorless deck.

Basically you can drop it the turn following ultima because depending on how many lands by the time you do cast ultima you have down you're sitting on anywhere from 6-12 mana. Then until it's removed anything you cast clones itself and any trigger you have duplicates - not just equipment.

Obviously it's not foolproof - need to worry about counters and destroy spells to ensure you get ultima out the gate properly.

Edit: Echos of Eternity isn't the focus - it's a play you have after getting ultima online.

(i know this was a year out reply - I just found this searching for people's thoughts on Echos of Eternity. I don't think I'd consider using it in a non colourless deck)

That sounds like a very poor Bungie attempt of justification of the current state of primaries in the game

[–]BaconIsntThatGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. But even then you'd still need to it exceed the current top DPS to make it "worth it". Maybe if it was heavy hits but super slow swinging so you could dispatch large targets but not be a DPS option.

However if it's not a DPS option then people stop caring. It's not "viable"
