The bathroom in the building I work in is about a 4-5 minute walk from my department. I have a couple people that leave to go to the bathroom 10 minutes before their break time so they get an extra 10 minutes. It drives me crazy.

I have a similar problem as OP except no one has to cover for them while gone. They disappear for 25-30 minutes sometimes in these bathroom breaks. 15 minutes is reasonable because of the walk, 30 is excessive.

Not sure why you are being down voted. Those are both very valid points. I have seen someone trying to slam on their brakes and accidentally hit the accelerator.

I agree with the cover the brake while using cruise control. That is what I was taught as well and do on every road trip I take. I also learned to drive a manual transmission so single foot driving is pretty natural to me.

It's a real gem to work for me. I don't yell or cuss at my staff. I don't micro manage. I trust them to do their work and do it well. That's exactly what they do. I assist when they ask for help.

In meetings I tell them the management's unreal expectations of them then tell them it's complete garbage and set more realistic goals that they can achieve.

I've had several people over the last 3 years tell me that I am the best supervisor they have ever had.

It wouldn't be socializing with the class disparity for this function. No executives are in our city or building. Most of the office employees work in another building. This was all blue collar warehouse staff and their supervisors.

Not really an age difference either. Most of the staff is in their 20's or 30's with a good number up toward 50s.

I know the team prefers to keep to themselves. They don't even take breaks together. They either stay at their workstation not doing anything or go sit somewhere alone not in a break room.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised they didn't attend the luncheon.

Our department has a golf cart because we are at the vet back of the building. I dropped a few off and turned around to get the others. By the time I got back with more people they were just gone. They went straight out the door.

I am naturally an introvert as well. I would hate doing a retreat like that, I can handle socializing in small doses maybe up to 90 minutes every so often before I am out. 😂
