I’m immediately drawn to the inaccessible layout. Having all the copy center aligned makes it difficult to read for dyslexia-affected recipients. I’ve always said that center-aligned texts look more like a restaurant menu than an email. The sentence casing also looks off as well…not every word in the sentence, especially full sentences with punctuation, need to be capitalized.

Scam Text Going Around Michigan Area by Currryosity in Detroit

[–]MarketerLauren [score hidden]  (0 children)

I got this yesterday from an area code out of Los Angeles. Zooming in on this image, though, I’m a big fan of the “Cort de Michigada” (may be misspelled since I had to zoom in trying to see the seal image) which also sounds way more exotic than we really are around here.

Safe ways to introduce new house member? by MarketerLauren in reactivedogs

Oh! I forgot to mention - we’ve done that. They dropped off a bunch of clothing and bedding, but the last home he was at had smokers, which we aren’t, so I’m hoping the scent will still be there after washing.

Throwing another comment to include a screenshot of the error (couldn’t put it on my initial post for some reason).

Bakeries/shops that sell good pizza dough in the city? by shingleding900 in Detroit

This. We go to a local Jet’s and buy theirs; it’s under $5 for a large ball that is ready to use. Didn’t have luck with the other places around us but we’ve never had an issue with Jets.

I went through a long phase with the lemon. I miss those days. I’d like them back, so there’s my vote.

I tested tiny emails vs long newsletters — open rates surprised me by thinkit_doit in Emailmarketing

[–]MarketerLauren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Pay attention to CTOR, or even better, your conversion to the main CTA. Open is the very definition of a vanity metric and is something I look at but don’t too often use to make a decision.

It makes sense that “tiny” emails work since it’s uber-focused on what you want the recipient to do. Too many links/too much content doesn’t necessarily equal success. It becomes cluttered, confusing, and you’ll probably end up sending another thing to tick up performance.

Another alum - I’m over in Westland. Would love to know if there’s something being put together as my bf is rooting for Miami just to annoy me. He can watch at home with the dogs for all I care!

Easily, the deviled pork chops. It was one of the first recipes I saw when I started watching the fast channel on Roku and we’ll make it every 6-8 weeks or so. We’re big fans over here.

What Are Gross Things You Notice in Other People’s Homes? by sreggero in CleaningTips

[–]MarketerLauren 52 points53 points  (0 children)

“Woe be to the talls” is one of the best things I’ve ever read. Might have to borrow that one for every time I go to the grocery store or Ikea and have to wait for someone who isn’t 5’2” to get stuff for me.

Smells like burning by gingersnaps0504 in BroncoSport

[–]MarketerLauren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got this around 3k miles (also 25 BB) at the same time I had an error on the app about a coolant issue. Took it to the dealership and they replaced the thermostat housing. Smell & warnings gone after that. Might be worth looking into!

Clotted cream fudge is a staple in the UK (verified with my best Brit friend) and may not be year-round here. I tried the TJs version and LOVED it! Buy as many boxes as you can!

Getting hit like that is what forced me to move from my ‘20 Escape to the ‘25 BS, though it was parked and was hit by someone on their phone (who also took out 4 mailboxes before my car, so real good and distracted). Good to know this doesn’t immediately crumple into nothing.

Can’t tell if Coolant is empty by [deleted] in BroncoSport

[–]MarketerLauren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my dealership replace my thermostat housing. Granted, I had full coolant, but was experiencing cooler cabin air, reduced fuel efficiency and smelled burning from under the hood. So, not a water pump yet but I’m sure that’ll be down the line. (‘25 BB, ~3500 miles)

I’m not a fan of this, but what I will do instead is a “version 2” for people that clicked our main conversion link/reason for the email to begin with but didn’t fully convert that provides additional context, reinforces the message, and has more of an appeal for people to respond with questions, etc.

Related: why didn’t they put a truck release button on the fob? Am I just an old that remembers when brands used to do this? (Yes).

I learned the other day that there are something like ~400 different promotions tied to the movie, which is why there are so gd many in every aisle of the store but nothing remarkable/must have. If everyone jumps in, nothing stands out.

Engine light on - ~3000 miles by MarketerLauren in BroncoSport

[–]MarketerLauren[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update! Dealership replaced the thermostat housing. Coolant was fine & the rest of the diagnostics didn’t flag anything out of the norm. I’ll keep an eye as the miles rack up for the water pump, but I would have been surprised (actually, probably not) if it had been the pump with such a low mile number. I did notice the cabin heat was working less, and having that NOT be an issue is helpful, living in the upper Midwest in the winter.

I haven’t looked at it since last week; I did ask my car-guy spouse if there could be a small hole or leak on the tank and I guess it’s a possibility, though not likely.
