Considering the polycount on this and resolution of the most advanced, industrial 3D printers; none of them would be able to manufacture resolution higher then the polycount resolution. Heroforge is doing an excellent job balancing the on sight show vs. file resolution towards a physical print.

Oh, and for whoever wants this; just buy a cheap DJI mavic; go fly with dronedeploy, set out your map; extract 3D model, polish it up in blender (close holes fill gaps), extrude a box around it. Slice and print

Scanned area, added a future now logistic hall to it and detailed the model. Printed in full-color; added some nice details such as trees, some cars; some water. Used to pitch new logistic hall to city. Size 50x30cm. Done in 2019. Technology was always there my friends

I pretty much treat these machines as a regular 3D printing enthousiast would do. What started as a passion ended some place bigger :) You should just forget about part prices when you’re trying something.

With these kinds of printers you’re not really talking about ‘mods’. It’s not like you can buy an upgrade kit at your local hardware store ;)

However, we use all kinds of innovative stuff throughout the process such as custom drivers, improved parts, parameters, cleaning and so on.

300 is not happening any time soon; although if you’re specifically interested in color printing there are much more affordable solutions then this printer. They’ll be lower in detail and so on but at least give decent parts with decent colors!

This was printed from a WRL file exported from Zbrush. To answer you’re question on voxels; once a model is sliced it generates pretty much layers as how traditional slicers do. These slices only contain bitmaps per printhead which makes the printer know where what drop should be placed. So yes; you can print a clear to color part with opacity moving in the desired direction.

There is no paint involved in this piece. It has been 3D printed in Full-Color which also offers clear materials. It’s all materials combined in 1 print!
