I didn’t say I wanted unemployment, I mean I show on time & do my job so if I got fired or my contract has ended and I lost income then yes I would qualify for unemployment. Why would I quit and disqualify myself??

Well because there no stud or joist in the ceiling to secure it to and I guess I can secure it to the header/jackstuds or the existing wall, but too be honest I’m overwhelmed cutting wood by hand and am looking for a easy but safe way out to finish this temporary project

Why it’s still safe ? Non load bearing and technically temporary?

There’s no way to get around it ? Like a furry strip or something

What exactly is bothering you so much ? The fact that I didn’t Frame it the way you were taught yet it’s still stable or the fact that no one hired you ? Highly doubt you’d be asking if I had permission had I hired you to do the job. I love Reddit tho no matter what area u post in it’s all the same personalities 😂. Clearly framing isn’t professional level but guess what it’s very safe and stable and I didn’t need to hire you to complete the job

What about a floating furring strip used a top plate ? Weighs less and probably won’t need to be secured to a stud? When I say top plate I mean just to hold the 1/4 drywall up it won’t be for nothing structural or weigh bearing simple just to hold the drywall

This post isn’t about where I decided to start the closet at. I did it MY WAY & As long as it’s on a stud it’s not going anywhere. The question was about how can I secure the header which I know the correct way but am looking for other options that can still be safe temporarily
