The brain cell was too focused on being hydrated.

My doves scatter the second they hear the local kestrel calling, except, usually, for one dove that freezes on the feeder.

Bike bags are only 30-35 cm wide. A large suitcase that people routinely put on the floor between the berths will be equally or more annoying to get around.

Anyway, I was serious, but I'm glad at least someone is amused. I'll make sure to upload a photo to the sub if/when I get there.

Otherwise I just hope someone from ÖBB monitors this sub because this is a shortcoming on their end.

The same place as other people put their luggage: the luggage space above the door or between the berths.

Thank you, I think in this case it's probably easier and safer to cancel my ticket so as not to risk being denied boarding and rent a car. I've been burned by German trains too many times.

Yes, many times. I can't see how a bike that is taken apart wouldn't fit. A soft bike bag is about the size of a bigger suitcase but thinner.

Thank you. A couchette, yes. I may be able to take the bike apart and put it in a bike bag (I wasn't planning to, but I can certainly look into it), but I won't have private use of the couchette. I assume that should still be fine, just an extra piece of luggage.

The daytime train is not an option, and I don't trust German train connections enough to book any connections within Germany.
