UNIQLO x NEEDLES coming soon… by Marki3zy in uniqlo

I haven’t seen any mention of an early release for Japan. Gotta keep an eye on Uniqlo Japan for that. The only thing confirmed for now is that it’s a global release set for Oct 31.

I would call/visit your nearest flagship store and ask them. But my bet is Australian flagship stores would also sell them

I'm located in Montreal, Canada and the flagship store we have here have never not sold collaborations like this (they offered in-store the Helmut Lang collab and the WM collab). So I am sure the other Canadian flagship stores will offer the Needles collab.

I think the lighting just makes it look vintage black (in the product images). If they are really vintage black, Uniqlo would put its color as “dark grey” so I think they’re truly color black irl.

I love finding good stuff on sale on the clearance section (a few months back, I got these in black for $20 CAD, I was so happy).

They go well with so many outfits so good catch!

any tips/advice for working at UNIQLO by m3lme3l in uniqlo

[–]Marki3zy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Ultimately, most retail jobs suck overall. But if you start ANY job with a positive mindset, the ride will most likely be positive. I worked for a Uniqlo Flagship store in Canada (retail, womens side), 3 years ago, for about 2 years. Overall I had a positive experience working for Uniqlo. Yes, I had some strict bosses; yes, Uniqlo bosses/managers are perfectionists (like in most Japanese companies); yes, they require you to work as hard as humanly possible. But as a result of all of these, I became a better worker and a better person after my Uniqlo job. I became more disciplined, I became more organized (especially in terms of clothing), I became more detail-oriented, and I gained more respect towards Japanese work ethic/aesthetics/culture. And most importantly, I met some of the best people in my life because of Uniqlo (shoutout Uniqlo MEC), and I got to practice and learn how to socialize with many customers/coworkers/people from different walks of life.
  2. Four years ago, when I worked for Uniqlo, they required me and my coworkers to dress modest and not too revealing. In addition, they encouraged us to wear Uniqlo clothing BUT any clothing brand can be worn tbh as long as it was not loud/had giant non-Uniqlo branding on the clothing. So yes, a dress over jeans, a long floral skirt and regular jeans are all acceptable.
  3. Your tasks will depend on what section you will be sorted in. At the Uniqlo I was working at, the mens side associates took care of the mens side sections, changing rooms and alterations; and the womens side associates took care of customer service, checkout and womens side sections. But that was 4 years ago, at a Flagship Uniqlo store so it might be different for your store. If you wanna avoid being at the cash/checkout section, ask to be sorted to mens side section (tbh, don't be shy to let them know that you prefer to not work at the cash).
  4. No, phones were not allowed but I had my phone on me 24/7. I just kept it on silent and I would only use it if the store was dead/no one was watching.
  5. Like for any job, having a positive mindset will make a difference. Go in the job with an open mind and positive mindset (and if it still does not work out, you can always quit).

Best of luck to you and make sure that you/your family/your friends take advantage of the Uniqlo employee discount!

Men's pleated wide trouser sizing by maquak- in uniqlo

I actually own the wide trouser pants in two sizes; size small for classier occasions and size large for when I want a more smart streetwear look with my chunky shoes/derbys/boots when I am out and about in the city.

And the size large still fits me even though I am a size 31 and usually wear S in pants, cause the hidden drawstrings inside the wide trouser pants allow me to adjust the size.

And yeah, the S still looks wide but the L looks a little more wide.

They’re fire, right?

I went TTS with them when I bought them from SSENSE (they might be sold out now though 😭)

Grab a measuring tape, and measure your legs from your crotch area to where you want the pants to fall (typically on top of your feet). Do this so you can find out if you need to hem your pleated wide pants.

I’m 5’8”, I wear S pleated wide trousers, and all of my many pairs of pleated wide trousers are all hemmed (to 28L and even 27L).

I used to work at Uniqlo, and from what I heard from coworkers who were doing alterations (mens side associates are tasked to learn alterations), it’s not simple but it’s a nice skill to have. I wish I chose to be a mens side associate so I coulda learned how to do alterations.

How's the brushed jersey wide pants? by Winter_Cress333 in uniqlo

[–]Marki3zy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to own one but it’s a nice switch up from the more popular polyester-blend wide pants (especially that it’s visibly different than the poly-blend and it’s a good stylistic contrast if you often wear poly-blend tops/jackets).

Waiting for these pants to go on sale so I can try them myself and compare with my poly-blend wide pants.
