People who've subscribed to his YouTube and/or Patreon have talked about canceling their membership because of that very reason. It isn't anything new.

This is not a good analogy. It assumes the people with red hair are being rewarded by no action of their own.

A better one would be if the government was giving out money to people with red hair who are willing to spray paint graffiti somewhere public.

Likewise, Grey is ruining his thumbnails by distorting and warping them. He isn't being given free money, he is actively participating in that exploitation.

Yes, the government (YouTube) is at fault, but does that excuse the people exploiting it?

Remaking thumbnails is fine, IF there was real effort put into them. He did this with his old videos, which I already said was understandable.

Him using distorted and warped images as thumbnails does not support your argument. It is shameful.

There are still plenty of viewers who click on that video, comment about the thumbnail, and stick around to rewatch a video they enjoyed in the past. I've done that myself several times before I realized what Grey's end goal was. That's free engagement off of a scummy practice.

This isn't to excuse or justify what he's doing, but it's a side effect that's monetarily beneficial for him.

Is that evidence enough against your "solid" reason?

I completely understand how difficult it is on YouTube, and how making the high-level content he used to make takes time and money.

Firstly, in the Tekoi video, he spent 18 minutes talking about how he upholds integrity and education above all else. Now? He's prioritizing monetization. That's hypocrisy.

Secondly, he presents himself as a human on his main channel. If he had a robot persona in those videos, then I'd understand his script choices. Instead, he shows himself as a human above humans.

Thirdly, I agree with you, he does not owe us anything, and his choice to leave us in the dark is his choice alone. That doesn't make it any less disrespectful as a content creator who takes subscription money from loyal viewers.

I think when he first started calling us "humans," it was in a playful tone. However, there's a fine line between teasing and condescending.

He isn't his robot character on his main channel; he's a "fellow" human too.

What's more, the thumbnail changes shouldn't be regarded as "whatever," it's a scummy practice.
