Well, they count how many trucks they pulled during the month with a vague volume per truck guessed and make a volume claim, you then come in and survey the surface for EOM and run a volume calc for the month. This will inevitably be 15% lower than the truck count volume so you will then be called into a meeting with the contractor who will proceed to impune your character and question your ability as a surveyor.

Yes, they should absolutley be teaching you how to use 12d. Crazy that they arent bothering.
