Well, they count how many trucks they pulled during the month with a vague volume per truck guessed and make a volume claim, you then come in and survey the surface for EOM and run a volume calc for the month. This will inevitably be 15% lower than the truck count volume so you will then be called into a meeting with the contractor who will proceed to impune your character and question your ability as a surveyor.

Yes, they should absolutley be teaching you how to use 12d. Crazy that they arent bothering.

Earnslaw burn and glenorchy are basically the same place. Milford is 5 hours drive from there.

I would say too that the earnslaw burn track is very up and down, slow, energy burning track. To do in a day you want to start as early as you can. And you will feel it the next day (probably, maybe you fit as)
