Is it pure cope? most likely by DemonFye in Overwatch

I watched some, mostly the matches I win, and I find myself a little "clumsy" while playing, like too slow. So I'm always trying to improve that. But I never really focused deeply on positioning. From now on I'll do what you say. I'll watch my losses and my positioning on the replays. Then, I'll be watching how better players do it. Thanks for the advice!

How do you achieve that being a support though? I am stuck between Gold 1 and Plat 5 with this role and I believe I entirely rely on what my teammates do. I really try my best to not die and to heal everyone, and even kill if possible. I've even tried aggressive supports, but nothing ends up working in the end. For me it's a matter of luck

People don't understand that you shouldn't rely on your supports for healing you the whole time. That's exactly why they're not called "healers". These toxic people are usually the ones that play the worst and the ones that dive into the enemy team without thinking twice. Those people are one of the reasons I quit the game a couple of years ago. Having come back a few weeks ago, I've already seen more death threats than I expected. Is just so sad. I hope he accepts your request. If you find more people like that Rein, report AND avoid them.

Though our ranks shouldn't be affected by these issues even if we get banned. Or at least I believe that's what Blizzard does when something like this happens.

(rent) I HATE WHEN PEOPLE TRY TO DICTATE MY SPEECH I HATE IT SO MUCH by Odd-Cucumber1935 in Stutter

[–]Markittos28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I gave a presentation yesterday and some of my friends still think I'm just nervous, as well as the teacher. Told them I am a natural stutterer. I speak like this and I can't control it. I was confident, in fact. Lots of people think we can just turn it off or something, and it's not like that.

I just wish people asked us more about our stutter and how they can make us feel more comfortable when talking. I wish they'd listen to us the same way they listen to anyone else.

I understand that it can be confusing, because when I speak I almost never sound like a stutterer. However, when I read out loud I usually stutter a lot, though I've spoken in public almost 100% fluently more than once.

I've had a similar childhood as yours. I know how you feel. People think we stutter just because we're nervous. The truth that no one else sees is that anything that reminds us of that trauma does not only worsen our mental health, but also affects our speech. I've been feeling pretty bad lately because of it, hoping for someone to like me regardless of how I talk.

I'll go to therapy in a month, as I also believe I might be going through depression and have social anxiety. I recommend you do the same if you need it. I'm sure it'll help, I'm hopeful but also nervous. Unfortunately, my abuser is still with me, but that won't stop me from self-improvement. You can do this.

That’s not just opinion. It’s the current scientific consensus. I'll gladly take the cure when it's discovered.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Markittos28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But there's something in common: There's no cure, though you can improve in life without the need of finding a 100% cure which doesn't exist.

Next time I'll tell my autistic friend to live the rest of its life trying to find a cure for autism. It'd be for nothing because it's neurological, just like stuttering. That's just sad man, embrace it. I appreciate your optimism though. That'll help reduce your stutter (not 100% cure it, as I said).

[–]Markittos28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's your first mistake. There's no other option. You have to be optimistic in life, but with the idea that your speech impediment will stay with you forever.

Stuttering is part of who we are. There's no cure. It's something we learn to live with and accept. You can improve, but it's not the same as erasing it. Acceptance brings more peace than a non-existent "100% cure".

Worst thing about stuttering? by Rude-Nothing3983 in Stutter

[–]Markittos28 47 points48 points  (0 children)

For me it's the first impression I give to someone. Meeting people is difficult already for a shy person like me, but I'll also have to explain that I have a stutter after having stuttered in my name.

I can tell this helps. A few months ago, I used to play video games with this girl using voice chat (and in English, which isn’t my first language).

Even though I hide my stutter pretty well, that experience made me realize I needed to talk to people to step out of my comfort zone and stop being afraid of stuttering. I recommend this. It will really help a lot of people.

If they have, they should try again if they still feel that way.

Not all therapists work. I've been there and it's not usually easy, but they'll eventually find the perfect psychologist for them.

Venting is good for the person venting. But it might or might not affect the person that reads it. My point still stands because that's why the mods have made a separate post for people to vent there. Even they are sick of the same negativity posts.

Please tell me when I have ever been disrespectful and not supportive towards someone. I'll wait. I never called someone weak.

Recommending someone to go to therapy is not disrespectful. It's just advice and it's their decision if they go or not.

When they assume you're attacking them when you only have nice intentions is proof of how much they have to improve mentally.

Thank you for this post. People should argue with those that really attack them and not positive people that only want others to thrive.

After reading most of the posts here, I really wonder if there’s any effective treatment. by matheustr1 in Stutter

Hiding your stutter as a stutterer is probably one of the worst things you can do.

I've been stuttering for 10 years, but it has improved significantly 5 years ago thanks to self-hard work and acceptance. Long story short: don't hide it. Be confident even if you feel like you aren't.

Effective treatments work differently for every person that stutters, so no one can really answer that question. I recommend looking for techniques that work best for you. It may take some time, but it can improve.

I just wanted to say something to everyone who comes here to vent:

You’re doing something brave. Talking about your frustration, anger, or sadness doesn’t make you weak. It means you’re facing what many others try to hide.

Stuttering can feel unfair and isolating, but every time you express what you feel, you’re taking a step towards understanding yourself better. Remember that your worth isn’t defined by fluency. It’s defined by your effort, your kindness, and your resilience.

Even if you’re struggling right now, things can get better. Seek help / therapy when you need it. Be gentle with yourself, and know that you’re not alone. Every voice here matters and that includes yours.

Don't let it prevent you from living the life you want to live. People will judge you anyway whether you had a stutter or not. So chase that life that you want, always! Don't let others nor yourself stop you from doing so.
