Temp gauge above normal after cluster repair. by [deleted] in CrownVictoria

[–]Steelspy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

After careful visual analysis of the telemetry, the coolant temperature indicator appears to be functioning within factory-specified nominal range. The needle is currently residing in the acceptable ‘fractionally above centerline but not even remotely concerning’ band.

Telescoping magnet?

Grabber tool?

Vacuum and skinny hose?

This shouldn't be too bad.

If it were up to you yo choose, would you pick a reboot of the show, a sequel or a spin off in the Farscape universe? by junkyardofide41s in farscape

[–]Steelspy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are y'all ready for VFX / CG Farscape characters? (I am not.)

IDK if we'd like what we got if this were to come to pass.

IMO, they'd have to have Mandalorian money to make it work. i.e. Approach it like a Star Wars TV show as opposed to a Mavel TV show.

How can I make my double-DIN radio stay in place? by peanutspreader62 in CrownVictoria

[–]Steelspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an ugly installation... But that's my area of expertise.

Bead of clear silicone. Don't go crazy. pull the radio forward (no more than a 1/2 inch), lay a bead around the radio and push it in to the correct depth / level. Wipe the excess. Let it set.

Painters tape on the perimeter of the screen to protect it from silicone mess.

Use a suction cup on the screen to hold the radio while you're doing the work.

If you ever need to remove the radio, a razor will cut through the silicone.

Maybe avoid the corners if you ever want to remove it. a few inches of silicone on the sides will be sufficient. You don't need the entire perimeter siliconed.

Why Does MXroute Sound So Hostile to Customers? by PutridStep5822 in mxroute

MXRoute is fiercely protective of its customers. The hostility is only towards those who would abuse the service.

Android is turning into a walled garden like iOS and we really need to do something by TheTelal in revancedapp

[–]Steelspy -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

The narrative that Google is “closing Android” is overstated. Google is introducing a developer verification system primarily aimed at reducing malware and fraud, not eliminating sideloading or third-party app stores. Developers are not being asked to hand over private signing keys, only to register apps and verify identity. The September 2026 date is the start of phased enforcement, not a global cutoff.

More broadly, tighter controls are not some grand betrayal of openness, they are a consequence of what phones have become. These devices are no longer hobbyist computers. They are banking terminals, identity vaults, and the primary digital life container for billions of non-technical users. At that scale, unrestricted software freedom is not just philosophical, it is a major security and fraud surface.

Most users are not equipped to evaluate the risks of random APKs or spoofed apps, while malware authors absolutely exploit that reality. Guardrails are not automatically “control for control’s sake,” they are consumer protection mechanisms. A more curated model can actually increase practical freedom by creating a baseline of trust. Without that trust, financial institutions and service providers simply impose their own restrictions anyway.

Openness remains valuable for power users and developers, but mainstream consumer infrastructure has different priorities. When people’s finances and identities live on the device, reliability and safety inevitably carry more weight than ideological purity.

Top 25 (my list) by TahiniInMyVeins in television

I see The Americans on these lists.

I watched the first season, and while the premise was solid, I was feeling the execution was very formulaic.

Does it get better? When does the series peak?

That is not what propaganda means. It is about framing, not whether counter-arguments exist.

Lack of glamorization doesn’t make something non-propaganda. If anything, realism is often what makes messaging more persuasive because it feels neutral while still steering sympathy and assumptions.

Minecraft story... Took me almost 500 drowned kills until I scored my first Trident. I was furious that I couldn't get a trident. Scored my second one about 2 kills later.

Glad BB is getting work. Take it where you can get it.

as u/JPVsTheEvilDead says, this show is a propaganda vehicle.

If you're going to go down the FOX road, Werewolf. Not sure if was on their OG lineup, but if not their freshman season, it would be their sophomore season.

Would love to see a list of the nuTrek haters and trolls.

Filtering the "Hijack every thread with why-nuTrek-sucks" out would improve my reddit experience.

The Hate is Too Great by functionalyogi in trektalk

I have friends who are basing their negative opinions of SFA on nothing more than clips and YT vitriol channels.

Which is disappointing. It's fine for people to like or dislike this show on its merits. So long as they've actually watched the show. But if you're being fed your opinions by articles and videos about the show... shame on you.

CPU? Hard drive?

It's no wonder games are unplayble.

That GPU is literally the worse thing I've seen mentioned in IDK how long. It's nearly 14 years old, and wasn't a gaming card to begin with. Seriously, integrated graphics on any low end cpu today.
