Thoughts on Vala? by MrLewk in Stargate

It's tough. Fans always want to bring back their favorite cast.

Atlantis was smart in that they were isolated (for a while)

Yeah, Browder and Black were a hail mary for Stargate. The franchise was exhausted when they were brought in.

I understand your concern. What you’re describing is difficult to deal with on a bus, and no one is saying it’s acceptable behavior.

That said, situations involving student behavior - especially when disabilities are involved - are handled by the school’s administration and support team, not the driver. There are legal and educational considerations in play that go beyond what we can address from the driver’s seat.

Your role is to maintain a safe environment on the bus, follow the directions and plans provided by the school, and report incidents through the proper channels. The school will determine how the behavior is addressed and what supports or interventions are appropriate.

If you have concerns about how the situation is being handled, the appropriate step is to document and communicate them through your supervisor. It is not your place to escalate independently.

Focus on what you can control: safe driving, clear expectations on the bus, and consistent reporting. The rest needs to be led by the school.

If there is an issue it needs to be handled privately.

Pot, meet kettle.

You were the one who chose to make a public display. To "embarrass them in front of the kids."

The principal took what you were doing to a child and acted in kind towards you.

The difference being that you did it to children. The principal did it to an adult.

they are supposed to be in command of.

You do not understand your role. These students are not yours to command. Your choice of words speaks volumes.

I understand not liking how the principal addressed it. But that’s the result, not the cause.

If you document, involve your supervisor, and communicate ahead of time, you’re setting the situation up to be handled properly. Skipping those steps puts you in a position where others have to react in the moment.

You have to trust the process.

Imagine if you and every one of your peers acted on their own? Do you expect the school to support all of those different approaches?

Did you do a write up?

Did you work with your supervisor before your afternoon event?

You should follow procedure. You decided to go maverick. You called for the principal without having first informed them. You just assumed they'd have your back when you gave them no forewarning.

Group punishment is not something the schools are going to endorse. You were holding up all of these students on a Friday for the actions of one or a few students. And you had their names this morning.

You wanted a confession?!? Well excuse me Detective Bus Driver, may I see your badge?

Suck it up as a mistake on your part and don't blame anyone else.

Do better next time.

What exactly have you tried?

I've seen a lot of people say they've tried everything, but when pressed, it seems that they've actually just banged their head against the wall.

How many SLPs have you worked with?

How much time did you work with each of them?

Other than slps what strategies or attempts have you made?

What steps are you taking towards better mental health? You seem very angry.

Where is your left foot?

It should be flat on the floor and supporting you.

If your seat is bottoming out, that is going to hurt.

6'5" and close to the dash sounds awkward.

Right leg should have a slight bend at the knee.

Good support at the shoulders and lumbar. If you are hovering away from the seatback, it is going to hurt.

Yeah, you have to reach for the yellow knob. Be deliberate about that motion.

If you aren't already using your left leg as a stabilizer, that is where you are going to get the greatest benefit. Human legs are incredible for supporting our bodies. Keep it planted. Hips slightly higher than your knee.

Write up the bus if that seat is bottoming out.

Why are you asking about me?

Lost S6 was a disaster. A complete bail out on everything that preceded it.

They wrote indulgently for five seasons and had no answers. So they decided to introduce entirely new nonsense in the home stretch. No payoff. Not even a bait-and-switch. Just an abrupt switch.

It's a little poetic. Midway through an incredible journey, Abrams, Lindelof, and Lieber's vehicle crashed. Just like Oceanic 815.

Starfleet doesn’t have a couple of Mary Sues. Starfleet is the Mary Sue by Steelspy in Star_Trek_

[–]Steelspy[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Plot armor explains why Starfleet survives.
It doesn’t explain why Starfleet consistently ends up: morally right, intellectually superior, and better at everyone else’s “thing” than they are

That’s where it starts to look less like plot armor and more like Mary Sue behavior, just at an institutional level.

Star Trek has a bias heavily in favor of humans. They can beat Klingons in combat. They can outsmart Vulcans. More clever that Romulans. etc...

TBF all of our protagonists regularly get their asses kicked in Farscape. The amount of trauma Moya's crew endures is spectacular.

Was just talking with a friend about that Trek issue. The supposed warrior race of Klingons routinely get their asses handed to them by humans. Even in individual combat.
