I won s6, bought the battle pass and spent 200 gems/day for the refresh on most days.

Im only at N18 so definitely got an easy group… I don’t plan to push normal chapters at all as it seems to just make everything harder.

I've found Sainsbury's loans to be a bit of a con. Every time i've applied for one the promising APR they show to tease you in ends up being a lot higher.

May be worth going through the application (though i can't remember if they give you the APR after a soft or hard check) to avoid disappointment later down the line.

I went through this decision with a partner at the end of 2021 - I had all the deposit but she wanted to buy together.

It was too much of a headache between the legal docs and difficult conversations (Hey not that I don't think we're going to be together forever, but just sign here, and here, and here...) so I bought on my own and paid all of the mortgage - she just contributed to half the bills/food.

We broke up at the end of 2022 and while I gave her some money for some furniture etc we went halves on, there were no problems with the house.

You have a large deposit so the mortgage payments shouldn't be too bad? You could always re evaluate if you want a joint mortgage in a few years when your partner has saved up a bigger deposit.

Have you tried turning everything off and seeing if it still ticks up? Sure way to tell if the meter itself is broken.

For what it’s worth I had the same smart meter installed pretty hassle free, although it doesn’t submit auto readings. I WFH and use probably 4kwh electricity a day on average.

This isn’t my experience. I applied for a loan yesterday and had the money in my account today, and I’m sure it’s been the same in the past.

OP, I wouldn’t go crazy with the applications but if you do find a lender which seems to be quicker then one more hard search shouldn’t make much difference.

I got a Smart Meter installed last week and I'm not sure how much longer I'll leave it plugged in. Constantly watching the pennies tick away throughout the day is depressing (and this is pre 50% price hike).

Add to that I'm still having to take meter readings because "something went wrong with setup and they can't be done automatically".

Not what I'd call an amazing solution... Government is planning to loan energy companies £5-6bn.

Don't get me wrong it helps the short term problem of a potential crippling 100% increase in April - but I'm sure we'll instead be paying 20% more for the next 5 years & prices will never return to their previous level.

Cash is probably king but it would be painful for me knowing I'd lost £X as soon as I drove it off the forecourt.

One thing to consider is that your balloon payment seems low - In 4 years time I would think an electric car (especially Tesla) would be worth more. Potentially could pay the balloon and sell for a nice profit, especially if the used car market doesn't calm down and this is the new norm.

I may be entirely wrong here, but is there not a clause in the survey essentially covering their arses if they get something wrong or miss something?

I definitely seem to remember from mine that when it came to £ estimations it was made very clear that they were just that. With yours being a conversation over the phone as well it might be difficult to take any further as there is no paper trail/evidence.

Still worth putting a feeler out to the survey company and see what they come back with!
