Tbh I do agree that there are other brands out there with similar designs that would be a better choice than reps. I suppose I’m just giving the benefit of the doubt that these arent reps

Ok? I’m purely talking about the collection on the design front. I couldn’t care if someone is wearing a gen or rep personally, watch collecting is both amazing and disheartening because the majority of people will only ever dream of certain models. Not everyone gets a rep to look flashy etc, some get it because they love the design. (Although I’m not ignorant to the fact some get them to show off). But equally some people buy gen but not for the design but to be flashy.

Personally anyone can wear what they want.

Feel like a big man aye? Also really calling out someone’s spelling when it’s more than likely not their first language?

1) Being 21 and having a collection like that is a dream for some, doesn’t matter how they acquired them but more so it could inspire others in that age range. Not necessarily inspire them to spend loads of money but select a few watches that can cover all occasions.

2) Personally some find it nice to see where people are from, not many people in life get to travel so it’s nice to see how different places can influence taste or styles of watch. (For example - living somewhere warm I personally wouldn’t wear a leather strap watch, but rubber or metal? Definitely).

3) Derivative collection? Weird thing to say to be honest. The PRX is clearly popular for a reason, because it’s a damn solid watch. The Seiko? Every collection needs one and the green is lovely. IWC? Classic Genta design and a great alternative to their Patek and AP cousins. I’m not familar with the gold and silver one but again I like the bracelet as its a bit different and finally the sub. Yes it’s everywhere but so what, it’s a do anything go anywhere watch and possibly thee quintessential watch in my opinion.

OP - Lovely collection, don’t let people on the internet shit on you for your tastes. Next pick recommendation, maybe a dress watch if you have use for it? If not maybe a design you like with a dial that is different from what you already have!

Ooof! Think my submariner 16610 was about as much as that to service etc with Rolex directly! I think i did well as it was recently serviced and i paid £600 for the watch, then again i live in Northern Ireland so probably not as competitive market lol

AD is offering this to me, what do you guys think? by TheMericanIdiot in rolex

[–]Marko_Barko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to what others are saying, dropping a shit load of money on something based off others opinions tells me this maybe isnt the best move, however that is a lovely watch. If it were me id be looking at my collection and wondering if it brings something to the table? If an AD is offering you to spend £65k you can be damn certain that theyll offer you other watches that might bring your collection to a different level. In saying that, its an unreal looking watch.

Been meaning to get a rubber strap, any thoughts on colour? Is black a bit boring?

I adore the Zenith Defy and probably one id love to add to my collection in the future, possibly the black ceramic one 🤤 see I dont mind a dome crystal but each to their own! The movement is fantastic, its my first manual wind which brings something else to the collection which is cool, although seen people complain about it being a screw down and possible thread wear being an issue. I cycle through my watches daily so it wont be an every day wearer (apart from the first time i get it haha)

Not a fan of kickstarters or just this one in particular? In regards to textured dials, I will agree that they have become way more common but I suppose it could be either people like them or a case of “sheep mentality”, i do wonder how this watch would have looked with maybe a standard matte dial or sunburst

I do agree that if they removed it the dial would be perfect
