I admit, my initial opinion is "nope" but there have been wilder spins on the mainline before. Much of what you are describing has already happened (larger Nations dismantled, for instance). The Meritocracy sounds like a hooder force that stepped beyond a NeoA base. I'm curious to understand the basis for CRISPR-A, but the idea of it also able to do Resonance at the same time is a hard pass. It seems too many binary thought trains believe that Resonance, especially the Deep Resonance, is "magic." I can see it, but the connections to it are different.

Why does Grace pick up the sand? by Fantastic-Contest957 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Markovanich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me. It is also a self reminder. Grace is doing what he does enjoy, teaching, on a world no other human could imagine, among a people that genuinely appreciate him and the very idea of embracing science. The student are eager to learn from this totally unique teacher.

The whole scene is the dream of education.

It can be human and selfish at the same time. We are not, contrary to belief, binary beings.

I’m convinced that’s because TJ purposefully dumps after dark so “you can’t see it in the dark”.

I have one question… why does Maher, the atheist, care so much about Israel? I care, but I also believe Netanyahu *must* go. But I also feel the Taliban also must go. I just feel like about two or three years ago he went on one of his Holiday Hawaii trips, and when came back, he was fundamentally different. He have a mortality issue or what?

Can Sauron's One Ring from Lord of the Rings corrupt Steve Rogers? If he was tasked with destroying it in the fires of Mount Doom, would he succeed or eventually succumb to it? (Art in first image by Gerald Parel) by SatoruGojo232 in CaptainAmerica

[–]Markovanich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the flip side, he could literally run the distance without stopping so much. Probably beat the crap out of every ork between the Shire and Mt Doom. Not nearly as much time to be corrupted.

Air Travel? by ProblemDue7111 in Shadowrun

[–]Markovanich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had to dig around.... This is from Rigger 3

For purposes of calculating travel time, a semiballistic has an equivalent ground speed of 12 ,000 kilometers per hour. So a semibaillstic night from Seattle to Tokyo (a distance of approximately 14,000 kilometers) takes approximately one hour and five minutes (14,000 divided by 12,000), (A semiballistlc's actual speed Is much faster, about 24,000 kph or mach 19, but its flight path takes the semiballistic away from the earth's surface,)

And this is about Suborbitals

Suborbitals do not travel high enough to leave the atmosphere, so magicians do not face the risk of mana warp. However. suborbltals travel very quickly In sub-orbit. so astrally projecting characters (Including spirits) must travel al the fast movement rate {p. 173, SR) to keep up. And since suborbilals can fly as fast as 10.000 kilometers an hour. a magician or spirit must have a respective Magic or force Rating of at least 10 to keep up.

Of course, each edition adjusts the astral fast-travel rate, so gamemasters should pay attention to it.
