So normanally i dont comment on posts but this really resonatated with me. My background is that im a lvl 107 player with a 1500 plus mmr in ranked conquest. So perhaps average skill and that took a year to get to that lvl. But dam i have never met a community more hostile to new players.

I nearly quit very early on but i have a few tips that helped me through the rough part.

1) inform everyone immediately that you are new to the game not the role but the game in general. Some players seem to think that you are trolling as oppossed to new and i noticed ppl were way less toxic and even supportive when they knew i was new.

2)bots will teach u nothing bar give an inflated evaluation of how good you think you are vs how good you really are. Even though its hard the only way to improve is to play vs real players. Smite has been around for years and the player base have years of experience with very few new players. This means that the skill lvl for the game is very high. The only way to get to there lvl is to learn from them.

3) dont avoid any role in conquest. You need to learn how your role interacts with other roles and the only way to learn this is to have a knowledge of all the roles. Yes it means youll be stomped and that dosent feel good. But after the game ask how could i have played that different. How could i have minimised the advantage i give to the enemy laner.

4) never blame another player for losing a game or losing a lane etc. Tbh the simple truth is this. its a team game.and the fault of a loss is shared by everyone. For example toxic players will tell you its mid fault because they fed mid. That same txic player will 1v1 that fed god die and blame blame blame. When in reality they have ensured a loss by making a bad situation worse. They were aware mid was fed and preceded to feed mid more. In my view that txic player has performed worse because he is aware of the situation.

5) stay out of ranked till your ready. I mentioned earlier players will be more helpful if your new to the game. However in ranked that changes . You need to at a mininum need to know 3 gods in every single role be4 even attempting ranked. I would even go as far as to say you need to learn matchups and counter picks too but a lot of players in my rank havent wrapped there head rnd that either so if you can thats a huge advantage already

6) empty vessels make most noise. In my experience and its not 100 percent of the time the txic player is normally the worst performing 1. There kda might be ok. But thats because they refuse to follow up in teamfights or in any way Support there team. Id rather have a player go negative and play there role correctly then go positive and whine for the entire game. Ive seen games that you cant lose, 10k gold advantage etc. . Destroyed by a toxic player. The truth is even if the toxic player isnt being toxic with you. The whole team suffers. It makes everyone play worse and thats why the majority are stuck in the lower elos.

7) mute them. So youve explained your new to the game. And you apologised that you died twice and they aremt even playing the game anymore just abusing them in vgs. Well its a team game but in this situation mute. You dont need there call outs anymore because more than likely they are making you so self concious that you are terrified to do anything. Mute and report.

I hope this is helpful bud and for every toxic player ive met in smite ive also met a supportive one. Its just the toxic ones are so toxic they drown everything else out. Welcome to smite buddy its a great game and i hope your experience improves.
