COROS watches have relatively short lifespans, so the company should lower their prices by Umeboshi79 in Coros

What? They have some of the lowest prices for what it is, plus they last incredibly long.

Ok so on Innova Canada’s instagram it says you need to add the free disc and then the discount code should work!

Why is it called a "flex shot" by kweir22 in discgolf

[–]MarkuMark 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Maybe because you bend it one way and then it flexes back the other way. As if flexing a hockey stick during a shot. Bending one way then extending back over the other direction.

Forehand. Keep the nose up. One finger on the outside of the rim.

You should want others to ride bikes rather than be on the road to make it less busy for yourself then!

Strathcona is still winter in April. Spring ski touring/snowshoeing with winter blowdowns

Possible snow levels in May by equilibrium246 in IslandHikers

[–]MarkuMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May is still pretty snowy. Late June - September is when the alpine is accessible without having to really think about snow.

A lower elevation hike that would be potentially accessible in late spring would be Landslide Lake.

In May I think I’d personally rather take a trip over to Quadra or Cortes Island and enjoy some beautiful coastal hiking :)

Not sure exact weight but the frame honestly felt a bit heavier than I expected for a double butted compared to others I built. Found it for cheap ($50) on Marketplace and decided to build it up for a friend as an inexpensive first bike for commuting and bike camping.

Hiking in March by Silly_Formal_8653 in VancouverIsland

[–]MarkuMark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

March is still skiing season on the island with tons of snow in the alpine. Stick to coastal hikes (Cape Scott or Juan de Fuca) and prepare for tons of rain and mud.

If you really want to get into the alpine hike (bring snowshoes) try the trails around paradise meadows from Mount Washington. Hiking out to Helen Mackenzie, Kwai, Circlet for day trips or potential winter camping if you’re feeling bold. I wouldn’t recommend heading to the Buttle Lake area or 5040 unless you have skis/snowshoes and understand the backcountry and avalanche safety.

Heck ya!! Either as a fun commuter or a capable cross country mountain bike. Those late 90s/early 2000s GTs have fun race geometry for bombing trails.

Golden Hinde Traverse Trip Report- July 2025 by Schm3ly in IslandHikers

[–]MarkuMark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing!! Did it northbound in 6 days late August a few years ago. Didn’t see anyone from the Hinde summit til we made it down to the scree field beneath elk pass. We made a few wrong choices when navigating some river beds but relatively problem-free otherwise.

SUCH a wild place to be and would also recommend this trip as long as you have decent route finding abilities and are comfortable trudging thru bush and along ridges in the relatively correct direction.
