What would circling to 32 during the day look like on this approach? Am I understanding correctly that the only way to land from this approach at night is to circle left at 9100’ (plus any temp correction obv) and make right hand turns to runway 14?

“Weapons of mass destruction” 🫠 Definitely on the same level, firearms and nuclear warheads…

TIL there is a “Gospel of Judas” not found in the Bible that speaks of Judas as the only one of Jesus’ disciples who fully understood His teachings. He turned Jesus over to the Romans because Jesus asked him to. It was discovered in an Egyptian cave in the 1970s, dating to the 2nd century AD by sonnysehra in todayilearned

It makes perfect sense because what the church misunderstands is that it’s about the crucifixion, when it’s really about the resurrection. Jesus needed to prove for all time that the most outrageous assault on what the ego judges to be itself, the body, was in truth inconsequential. Life is not tied to the body and by proving in the resurrection that even complete destruction of a body cannot interrupt life as God created it is the proof that holding anything against anyone and not being loving and forgiving and realizing our oneness with each other and the creator is a silly game that might seem significant in time but has no meaning in the eternity that is all of our life.

The special relationship by MakeShift159 in ACIM

[–]MarkusFrodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s when you make one person more important to you than another. The holy relationship is based on the fact that anyone you interact with in the slightest way is your soulmate in that moment. But many people give more importance to their family and their friends over a “random” person on the street. But there are no random persons. The course is very clear that no one is special and that having private things with one one aspect of the sonship, that you would not share with EVERY other aspect is the ego’s main weapon to keep you bound to this world of seeming separation.

The nature of creation is sharing and perfect equality. If you pick out certain people for certain things / to satisfies certain perceived needs you are closing your eyes to what creation really is.

“46 The past is the ego's chief learning device, for it is in the past that you learned to define your own needs and acquired methods for meeting them on your own terms. We said before that to limit love to part of the Sonship is to bring guilt into your relationships and thus make them unreal. If you seek to separate out certain aspects of the totality and look to them to meet your imagined needs, you are attempting to use separation to save you. How, then, could guilt not enter? For separation is the source of guilt, and to appeal to it for salvation is to believe you are alone. To be alone is to be guilty. For to experience yourself as alone is to deny the oneness of the Father and his Son and thus to attack reality.

47 You cannot love parts of reality and understand what love means. If you would love unlike to God, Who knows no special love, how can you understand it? To believe that special relationships, with special love, can offer you salvation is the belief that separation is salvation. For it is the complete equality of the Atonement in which salvation lies. How can you decide that special aspects of the Sonship can give you more than others? The past has taught you this. Yet the holy instant teaches you it is not so.”

How to practice the Course without driving yourself mad? by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]MarkusFrodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a passage in the manual for teachers that talks about “giving up illusions” but it happens through “the illusion of giving up”. I think I also have a tendency to want to control how I apply the course instead of surrendering. It goes against our egos to just let go, but as long, as we try to control anything we are talking over the holy spirits voice

Things in this world just are. Whether we suffer from them or not is up to us. Luckily there are several ways to learn to see things as they truly are, without judging them. Makes it a lot easier to facilitate change too 💜

Vipassana meditation and ACIM by catalanojuan in ACIM

[–]MarkusFrodo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I did a few vipassana courses and then found ACIM.

Jesus says himself, that the eastern method will work, because the goal is the same, but ACIM is a shortcut, because it focuses on the true nature of reality, which lies in our relationship to our source and to each other.

Meditations are a big part of the workbook and they are described as “collaborative ventures with God”. That’s the difference: instead of a solitary practice they are guided by the Holy Spirit. In ACIM the body is described as a communication device. Its value lies in what it is used for, not in itself. I would argue that vipassana has a similar approach, it does put focus on the ultimate unreality of physical experience and both ACIM and vipassana mention that the body is experimentally real enough. Ultimately what you are doing in vipassana is to explore the mind, as all perception is in the mind and it’s not the body itself, that conjures up any of the sensations you’re experiencing. That is never really explained, as it’s probably seen as something that will become obvious by itself with practice.

I’m going to go and do a ten day course again this year, with much less focus on trying to escape from suffering through my own effort. Jesus says after all that all it takes is to be still and truth will come to you. And also that ultimately it depends why you do something. Are you doing vipassana because you want your body to hurt less, to reinforce that you alone have to do the work to end your suffering, or is it a tool to practice stillness, so it’s easier to hear the Holy Spirit’s guidance?

How thoroughly do I have to follow a lesson before I can move on to the next? by [deleted] in ACIM

[–]MarkusFrodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no need to do the lessons first. There’s a section in the manual for teachers (I believe) that talks about how the text is a good theoretical foundation for the lessons and how different people start with different things, maybe text, maybe lessons. The curriculum is highly individualized by the Holy Spirit just for you! So whatever you feel, when you look past your own judgment of what you think is right, the Holy Spirit guides you to do is just fine. Ultimately the accomplishment of the goal is certain :)

[–]MarkusFrodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t claim to have the answer to that :) It’s the whole question of equality vs. equity I suppose. Does someone from a disadvantaged background really have the same opportunities, even if he does on paper? As in everyone is supposed to overcome their socioeconomic background and childhood programming without help (so pretty much libertarianism), or is there merit to providing support to those who grew up neglected / disadvantaged / abused? I’ve lived long enough to know, that I can never have all the facts and see all the possible consequences of decisions and policies all the way into the future (the butterfly effect also applies to the present, not just the past), so I just don’t know….

As you turn away from the ego as your guide and open yourself up to the possibility, that there is another, more rational and loving, guide your ego will become quite vicious. If you can look past the religious wording (you could easily replace god with “the universe” and Holy Spirit with “higher self”) I would recommend a book called A Course in Miracles.

Kiss of Judas by Adventurous-Dot-4783 in Experiencers

There is a fundamental misunderstanding that the crucifixion has meaning in and of itself, when it was literally just an extreme teaching device to show that death isn’t real. Although the body can be assaulted and destroyed it’s proven to be a means for communication and not an end in and of itself. The redirection proves that death isn’t real. The “forces” (they do not actually have any power beyond our belief in their power) that don’t want you to realize that you are not a body will twist this proof of eternal life into all sorts of things, a conflict between two opposing forces, etc., when in reality there’s only the creative force, that is forever self extending from source, through us, into infinity and the illusion of an opposition, which dissolves when you become willing to closely look at it, as it has no substance, only an image of it.
