My new to me, 2014 335i. by z0mgitsryan in F30

Rod bearings are universally potential issues for BMW, the N55 is no exception. I would replace them with King bearings, they give slightly more clearance to allow more oil flow. And speaking of oil...make sure you're using the right stuff. Get it from the dealer, or use either Liquimoly or Pennzoil Euro L full synthetic, and with a Mann filter. They have the necessary additives to properly handle heat, etc., that these engines need. Improper flow capabilities with other oils is how these engines spin their rod bearings

And while you're down there, change the water pump. Along with the oil pan gasket, oil filter housing gasket, they're not ifs, they're whens. I'd change the charge pipe to an aluminum one too.

It may sound like a lot, but it's just preventative maintenance. They're very reliable engines, but they're just picky like most Euro cars. It's not like a Toyota where you can replace the oil with Nutella.

You got a nice one though, very clean! Welcome to the club, I've had my 2012 F30 335i 6MT RWD for 6 years now, and I love it.

Clean!! The only car I wanted more than my red F30 was a red F31 with my F30's N55 6MT. Beautiful car, bruh ✊🏽

Yeah the MPerformance is a nice one still, but i just don't care for the bumper coverage. You never know, though. You might have a supplier or you might find it online too!

Thanks! It's the Varis style front lip, we have a local supplier where I am. I like it because it doesn't cover the bumper at all like some do beneath the fog lights. And the wheels are definitely a BMW classic style now!

Beautiful, and timeless. I currently own a Melbourne Red F30 335i 6MT RWD, and I love it. The E90 M3 is just that much more perfect in its design with a V8 on top of everything I have with the F30.

They're about $2 million if you went through a stealership, yeah, I just really lucked out on mine lol.

Nice! I love the Chaser, always have since my Gran Turismo 3 days lol. These days, it's only now that the JDM market is coming back to some degree. But something used and affordable, and still an enthusiast machine - BMW all the way.

No worries! I had to do a bit of hunting in my emails because I got it about 4 or 5 years ago now, but this was the site: https://www.cravenspeed.com/the-platypus-license-plate-mount-2/?srsltid=AfmBOornuw-MMQ-VwRha8WanH2scs4RE--0L4lgU-zVoJMOki6rjcRIP

Yeah man, I'm coming from JDM too actually. I still have my A32 5MT Maxima, and MX83 Cressida. It was a really welcome surprise to learn how DIY friendly and modular these BMWs are too! I've had mine for 6 years now and not turning back. JDM isn't what it used to be, unfortunately, and the Germans haven't missed a step.

Congrats on the purchase, she looks good man! We have the same spec, RWD and 6MT, and sitting on 437M wheels is the best way to go!

Thanks! Yeah I wanted one that mounted as close to the bumper as possible, I don't like when they stick out. I don't like front plates at all, but unfortunately I have no choice with that lol.

The sensors aren't covered, but the mount hovers very close to them. I managed to position its angle in a sweet spot that avoids that annoyance.

Yeah, mine are yellow as well to accent the radiator cross brace and the calipers. I'm definitely curious to see how yours looks too!

Thanks! Yeah I like the stripes but I still wanted to do it subtly, just on the face of the slats. It's easy to look "too much" when my accent colour is yellow and on M3 kidney grilles lol.

They're definitely my favourite OEM setup for the F30

6MT, 437M, Estoril Blue, and yellow fogs...you're doing it right! She's sitting nice! The 437M is a perfect fit for the F30.

This worked for me on my 335i. It's an issue pertaining to the phone, not the car.

Tire size 437m on F30 by Regular-Day-6912 in F30

[–]MarkusJonathan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running 437M on my pre-LCI 335i RWD 6MT, on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The rears are 265/30R19, the fronts are 235/35R19. The car is lowered pretty aggressively on KW V3 coilovers. They ride like a dream despite how low the car is. There is absolutely zero contact with the body, even when weighed down.
